Happy April Fools Full Moon Wycoversary Sweet Peeps!

I was running some errands this morning and decided to stop into my local caffeine dealer for a cup of Joe (I just read an entire article on why we call it “Joe” and am still clueless). As soon as I walked in, badass barista Brandon greets me with a “Happy April Fools!”. “You’re bad at this”, I said. Good at coffee, bad at pranks. He’s right behind me, isn’t he?

And have you seen the MOON lately! My goodness gracious! Daytime, night time, no matter what she is GLORIOUS these days! It’s known as the “pink moon” after the creeping phlox, or moss phlox that was in full bloom whenever the moon namers named the moons. But because of the day that is today, I petition we rename this one to the FOOL MOON! That’ll surely baffle future generations when they try to look up an explanation for the name (and maybe they’ll figure out “cup of Joe” by then). Was it even real? Did they have a full moon that month or not!?! Ooooh maybe that was when they discovered the military bases and Galactic Federation on that big ball of cheese! What an exciting time to have lived on Earth!

That sweet pink lady will be at her best at 9:12pm CST tonight, and I’m planning on a nice thankfulness ritual to honor her. I’ve been making a cup of hot tea at night recently, which I will be sharing with the moon tonight. A few friends of mine chipped in and got me a freakin amazing hand pan for my birthday a couple months ago, which I will use to serenade the moon (and possibly neighbors) while her gentle moon beams rain down. I may journal, I may sing and dance, I may give offerings and cleanse/charge newly acquired crystals, but no matter what, I will give thanks for a life full of abundance and bask in her glory.

One thing I am abundantly grateful for (queue broken record) is this community! Not JUST the MW community here (although y’all are THE BEST), but the mycology community at large! Mushroom people are some of the kindest, most helpful and loving people you could ever wish to meet, and I am truly honored to share this space with you all. The work you do, from helping others, having meaningful conversations and spreading spores to just living your best life, leading by example and infecting others with your positivity does not go unnoticed, and truly makes this world a better place.

I really can’t believe we’ve been at it for 7 years now! That’s WILD!! I say “we” because ever since the beginning, this has been a collective. People send me spores to share and they ricochet off me, into the hands of another loving mycologist. People send me crafts they’ve made, and we all cherish and enjoy those creations. The support and enthusiasm never tends to die down and I really couldn’t do it without all of you amazing souls <3

I was doing this spore giggery for a little while before I started projecting words in your face, but my first Reddit post was on April 1st in 2019! If memory serves me right, I believe I offered classic Golden Teacher, Alacabenzi, and maybe Z-Strain or Red Boy in the mix…just what I happened to choose when I first got into this. I’d make 10 or 15 syringes and think I was set for a good long while! Man, how times have changed! Many of you have been with me from the start (approx. the dawn of time), migrating from Reddit to Discord, through multiple website changes and allll the highs and lows. I am eternally grateful for all of the love and support through the years, and I’m so blessed to consider many of you my friends. Keep rockin’ on and keep spreading these mycelium networks for peace! <<A fellow spore wizard said “mycelium networks for peace” in the order notes the other day and I frickin’ love it!

Don’t forget to stop and smell the flowers this week! These Texas Mountain Laurels are popping up EVERYWHERE around me and they smell amazing!! Enjoy the simple things and say hi to the pink lady moon for me tonight! I love you!! <3

It usually takes a day or two off transit times! But beware…shipping with Priority on anything with weight can be a tad expensive. Always an option though!

Last week, a wild PHOBOS appeared in the shop (Albino Mars), and this week, appropriate for the full moon tonight, NATAL MOON is making an appearance in swab packs! This one is relatively new to me, but from what I’ve seen, it’s a beaut! This one was created by Jeff Karas back in 2022, when we alllll thought Ochraceocentrata was Natalensis, so this one is actually a cross of Ochra and Phobos. Just for the sake of the name, I’m kind of glad this came to be before the name change. Ochra Moon doesn’t roll off the tongue quite as well. But WE KNOW! In the end, it doesn’t even matter…it’s awesome!

I really appreciate everyone hopping in the DMs to share some amazing life experiences this past week! I mentioned noticing many of us having an upswing of LIFE lately, and the swings just keep uppin’! I feel the passion, creativity and joy blasting from you to me and it’s AWESOME! I know I’m mostly absent on the public channels in the server (I’m working on it), but don’t be FOOLED! I love hearing from all of you in the private chats about anything and everything and am *usually* pretty responsive. And if life has you down for whatever reason, vent it out! It really does help.

What is that you say? The dice rolls aren’t complicated enough? Say less! These dice rolls make sense to me and the folks that have been around for a while, but if you’re newer here or just curious how they work and I’m not explaining it well enough, feel free to reach out and I’ll try to simplify it for ya. There are currently two options that are vague…#8 on both the active $20 roll and gourmet $20 roll, mention “surprise goodies”. What the hell is even that? We just don’t know. But going forward, we’ll have a separate roll if you choose/roll one of these options. The “surprise goodies” will be determined by this extra roll. For example, if you roll a “1” on the separate roll for this option, you’ll likely have an “ahh, nice” reaction to the surprise goodies. If you roll an “8”, that reaction may be more of a “WHOOOOA DUDE HOLY MOSES!!!” with varying levels of goodies in between. Roll on my friends.

Quick note about giveaways on Discord: I love to accommodate anyone and everyone with these giveaways, but due to shipping cost and unreliability of getting through customs, these are currently for US addresses only. A 1lb box runs around $30 for shipping alone…5lb can be around $100, and some of these gives are heavier than that, running $200+ overseas, with high potential of getting stuck in customs and never actually arriving. If an international myconaut wins one of these, I’d be happy to send some prints or swabs your way…pretty much anything that can fit in a standard envelope and not have to pass through customs screening. Thanks for understanding!

If you order agar plates, quick changes in temps can sometimes cause condensation to form on the lids. Condensation is no problem, and will not affect the performance of the plate, but it’s still nice to have a clear view of what’s going on in there! I know for me, condensation is kind of annoying. If it’s still cold in your area, consider bringing your order into the garage or similar area to gradually warm up before entering your loving home to help reduce the drippity droplets!

This week, I challenge you to alter song lyrics from your favorite LINKIN PARK songs to make them more mushroomy!
