Merry November, y’all!
I took a walk this morning and t’was perfect hoodie weather. As I sit here tap tap tappin away on the ol keyboard, windows open with a slight breeze, sun shining, birds chirping, squirrels nutting or whatever squirrel things they do, I realize just how blessed I am to have this human experience. So much to be thankful for and appreciate. So many feelings coming and going, emotions passing by…just noticing. We can zoom in on our individual situation and find something to love. Something to bring tears to our eyes with gratitude. We can zoom out and find something to bring tears to our eyes with sadness. We can zoom out even further and see that none of that really matters, or zoom in further and see how our cells are just doing their best to keep everything in check, completely unaware of what pains us or brings us joy. It’s all perspective.

We can’t rely on one person to be the solution to all of our problems in the same way we can’t blame one person for being the problem to all of our solutions. We have to be the change we want to see in the world. Good things often aren’t as good as you think they will be and bad things aren’t as bad as you expect either. All we can do is lead by example, by being true to our highest self. Amplify all the love we possibly can, have compassion and show empathy toward all beings and not reciprocate hatred, negativity and division. Together, on team love, we can unite and build like never before and not let hatred and injustice be a distraction.
I for one, am never distracted. Ooh, squirrel! Literally just a few feet away as I admire the Austin tropics of 75 degrees in November (not to rub it in or anything). I hope all of you take a page from this guys play book and are BIIIIIG chillin on this fine day. He told me he will NOT be participating in no nut November. Thanks for the distraction, Mr. squirrelypants. I needed that.
I recently saw a quote from Alex Hormozi, who said “The biggest risk to your future isn’t your competition, it’s the distractions you insist on keeping in your life rather than doing the things you know you should be doing but aren’t.” People often delay doing things they don’t like for longer than it takes to actually do them. In a productivity sense, we can get caught up in being “lazy” of some kind….doom scrolling, browsing YouTube or Netflix with no purpose, or a myriad of other distractions keeping us from completing our goals or even starting them. But once you make the CHOICE to start that project, you quickly become immersed in that flow. Once in that flow, whether you’re creatively solving problems, checking things off your list, or just seeing progress of some kind, it takes something powerful to break from that flow. Were you so much more satisfied doom scrolling, putting off tasks that you know will be fulfilling? Usually not. It’s just the CHANGE that is uncomfortable. Once you go for it, you couldn’t imagine going back. So just start! One step at a time. And don’t get distracted by the outcome of your work. Working hard is the goal without being attached to your end result. I used to live by “If you do what you love, you’ll never work a day in your life”, which in the most simple definition is absolutely true, but I think Tim Cook said it better- “If you do what you love, you’ll work harder than you ever thought possible, but the tools will feel light in your hands”
In a more broad “life” sense, there are forces that will try to distract us and pull us away from spreading love. They will try to divide and conquer rather than unite and build. They may seem so foreign to us that we get so intensely wrapped up in how an individual or group could possibly spread so much hatred, disrespect and segregation that it takes us completely out of our flow to be that necessary change. We might feel depressed as a result, like we are up against the world, and that may even be a goal for those forces. We can’t stay down. We cannot let that happen. We need to fight the good fight. Challenge them to be better. LOVE WILL PREVAIL <3
Still a slower time in the new things to report on, but as always…when we have a few weeks of not dropping some sexy varieties, expect there to be some really nice ones right around the corner! Perhaps not this very next week, but expect there to be some cool new varieties hitting the shop in the back half of November.
I did want to mention a couple of reminders, though. Firstly, shipping has been a bit odd lately. This is not just with my outgoing things but across many of my suppliers as well. Some tracking on orders are showing an ETA only to show up later than expected, or missing scans along the way, while others show up just fine without a hitch. I have no control over this once it’s in USPS’ hands, but I’d be happy to take a look if you’re worried something might be wonky. I did have someone last week hit me up after seeing their package didn’t move for an entire 2 weeks and that is absolutely NOT normal. While I absolutely appreciate your patience with all shipping matters, please do not wait this long! If it’s taking longer than expected and I can’t get an answer from USPS on a delivery date, I’d be happy to send out a duplicate order in case it got lost in their system or something. That is extremely rare, but it does happen on occasion. ALSO! If you were expecting any freebies or lavish promises from your favorite sporecaster and your order shows up missing anything or if I got something wrong, please speak up! I am only human! And I will totally make it up to you. I’m reaching out to some of the more recent “Funky Duck” recipients, because for whatever reason, I feel deep in my guts that I may have accidentally included the “Big Boy” pack instead on a couple of those.
