Wyco Wednesday August 14

HUMAN IN BLACK, COUPONS/GIVEAWAYS IN RED, UPDATES/NEW IN BLUE

My dearly beloved,

We are gathered here on this Wyco Wednesday, to join these spores in holy microscopy. Mycolocroscopy is a sacred and joyous hobby that should be explored fully with love. Thou shalt care for, nurture and infuse thy spores with the utmost positivity and kindness. Amen.

Every once in a while, I get a request with a note with an order…something along the lines of “send extra love to the spores!” or one from this past weekend asking “please give them a hug before shipping!”. These notes warm my heart to the core, and makes me super appreciative of the overall vibe of the mushroom community. Of course I do as requested before sending them on their way, but EVERY step along the way is cared for with absolute intentional love and respect. If vibes are off or I’m not in the right headspace (it happens to us dense humans), I don’t work with these spores. They totally get the best of me with as much as I am able to give 🙂 If you’ve been around for a while, you know this…if you’re newer, I’m a weirdo. A real goofy goober. A “woo-woo hippie” as some would say (I embrace it). But I really do feel the energy you put into your projects often reflects the outcome. Love your spores soooo so much all along their journey and they will love you soooo so much right back!

I say I have no social media, but this community is really my social media. Until someone starts shouting obscenities at me, I’ll share a few pics from my walks as a subtle way of saying get out in nature and smell the cow patties.

This little happy tree friend is not mine, but my neighbor’s down the road. I tried adopting him but he wouldn’t budge. Old man set in his ways. Very grounded. Has established roots. He says “have a nice day” when I walk past. “You wood say that” I reply with finger guns.

This is Mr. Squigglesworth, a fascinating gilly boy I found foraging. I’m a sucker for some funky gills and this has to be one of my favorites. WILD.

And not sure if I told y’all, but I have a huge bush! It’s right in my back yard and fruits these almost fake looking gorgeous berries the color of Barney himself. They’re called Beauty Berries! My bush keeps getting bigger and bigger as I currently don’t have a need to trim it. The berries just dingle right off the bush and the leaves repel mosquitos!

And just down the road, I have a ton of prickly pear cacti! These things are EVERYWHERE down here and in many other parts of the country, but whenever someone from homeland Ohio comes to visit, they are marveled at these things. I just learned not only the tunas (pretty purple/pink bulbs) are edible, but so are the paddle guys! And all cacti are edible in fact! I know I could give it a quick Goog or find a video on the tube, but if any of you wonderful souls have any experience making anything with these cacti, please let me know! I liked this one because it sort of looks like a heart <3

Last week, we gave away 2 varieties of colonized oyster grain spawn, hardwood sawdust substrate, 2lb. sterilized grain bags, CVG substrate and pre-poured agar plates on the Discord! Thanks to TheGovernor, we now have an official giveaway bot thingy that makes it super easy to enter and it’s totally free! We’ll hold another give here in the next couple days 🙂

In the world of NEWs, we have a spicy new cube, a MASSIVE gourmet LC, and a couple new variety packs in the shop!

Please welcome Albino Bluey Vuitton to the cubensis shop! This is a really cool one and a fascinating study. Absolutely beautiful and if you haven’t seen these guys, check Reddit or something because whooooweeeee they are jaw dropping! Thank the sporelords for this beautiful beast.

Black Pearl King is the newest liquid culture addition to the gourmet/supply site at millywycomycology.com and is friggin HUGE! If you like a juicy bottom, this one’s for you.

Slowly but surely, I’ll remember everything that was on the old site and we will be whole again! One thing I noticed while updating inventory on spore prints, was the PRINT PACK was missing from the shop! This is for 10 “Vendor’s Choice” spore prints for those wanting to preserve genetics but may be a bit indecisive! No duplicates and all will be ones I enjoy working with. I’ve also updated the available PRINTS, adding B+, Brazil, Cambodian Gold, Creeper, Fiji, Mazatapec, PEU Revert, Stargazer, Thai Pink Buffalo, and Treasure Coast for your finest microscopy viewing pleasure.

And a new variety pack landing in the shop this week, inspired by the insane number of requests recently for the study of rather LARGE spores, BIG BOY pack is what you’re looking for! Like a couple other variety packs, this may change over time, but will always be my top 3 XL picks. If not specified, I will assume all syringes in the order, but there are some CHONKERS that are available in swabs only, so if you’re into swabs, let me know in the notes at checkout and I’ll include a mix!

The first 20 orders after this post goes live (5pm 8/14) will receive a special “unlisted” spore syringe FREE with their order! Usually, I give out an “unlisted” syringe that isn’t available in the shop, but is still labeled with the known name and date like all the others. This week is different! The unlisted syringe this week actually has no name. It is very interesting. It is peculiar. It is not like the rest, but it IS a cube. Somehow the name got lost in the sauce, but I would love to keep these fine genetics going. Care for them, love them, give it a nickname!

All order numbers ending in “0” will get a $50 credit good for supplies and gourmet cultures at millywycomycology.com!
