AUGUST 7 WYCO WEDNESDAY LIVE @ 5pm CST!
WYCO WEDNESDAY JULY 31
Welcome back, mushrinos and mushrinettes!
This update is mostly about some exciting new things rolling out today, some cool giveaways and trivia that I promised last week 🙂 Among the promises I did not keep: merch stuffs. It’s just a small (but super cool) trinket/gadget/doohickymajig, but will be worth the wait! I’m just waiting on the call to pick up the goods and we’ll be good to go 🙂 If anyone from my printing shop down the road is reading this, I love you guys so much and take your time! They are truly the best company I’ve ever worked with and appreciate the absolute heck out of them 🙂 Shout out Bumperactive!
BUT FIRST! Just a quick mention to my good friend and fellow ultra helpful Discordian, TarkilnForager! I had a heavy heart last week, and this guy has the NERVE to invite me on a long distance foraging adventure! It was blissful. Exactly what I needed to reconnect with nature, find some friends on the forest floor, and enjoy excellent conversation with a good friend. Just what the doctor ordered to clear my mind and sink into a place of gratitude. I really appreciate you, man! We added our funky finds to the “wilds and outdoors” channel of the Discord, which you should go check out immediately. Everyone on Discord is super kind, helpful, and encouraging. This is a completely safe space of love and friendship. WE THRIVE.
Continuing the tradition of one “traditional” cubensis variety and one “funky duck”, please welcome SYNERGY and YETI to the stage!
We don’t have a ton of info on Synergy, but I can say it is pretty fantastic in many different ways! This one came to me from my friend Alex at mushlovellc and has been cared for with immense long all along its journey. In the wild, or in places like Colorado, these are absolutely gorgeous and rarely produce fruits that drop spores…some do though! Very interesting one and totally suitable for beginners.
Yeti is our “funky duck” of the week, and a special one that many enjoy who are up for a challenge. Originally from Jik Fibs, this is a genetic isolation of the TAT (True Albino Teacher) family. Not recommended for beginners, but is a very unique and interesting variety for those with a little experience under their mycobelt. This one, as with all true albino varieties in the shop, is only available in swab packs.
New to the gourmet and supply shop at millywycomycology.com, we have a brand new agar recipe that I’ve been trying out with awesome results- SORGHUM YEAST AGAR PLATES! This concoction is super nutritious and all varieties that I’ve tested on it lately have LOVED this blend and really encourages rhizomorphic growth.
I always recommend keeping things still and consistent while colonizing the gourmet/edible species, but like most of you I just couldn’t help it and checked in on the new plates every few days. This first pic was taken only 2.5 days after the transfer, and the second pic just a week later. Just the slight movement of the plate while I was checking on it I believe allowed just enough fresh air for it to catch its breath and restart growth. Ideally, I would have left it alone and not had these little halos in the plate. I also noticed that my parafilm was stretched too thin and started breaking at some points on the side, which could allow for contamination to enter. This particular roll of parafilm seems more brittle than others that I’ve had from the same supplier, so if you’ve grabbed some pre-poured plates from me recently, keep that in mind! I’m cutting longer pieces of parafilm for orders going forward to minimize these issues. If you’ve ordered recently and would like new parafilm strips, just let me know!
TODAY ONLY (7/31), grab a 20-pack of the new Sorghum Yeast agar plates (Parafilm included) for just $20!
And for the other promised new addition to the gourmet fam, Shiitake spawn plugs are now available! They come in packs of 100 wooden dowels for just $10, ready to tap into your favorite hardwood log. They are slow to get going and may take a year to really take off, but they can continuously fruit for up to 8 years later! Very simple process and no special care along its journey…just let it do it’s thing 🙂 Available for both varieties of Shiitake: 3782 and S75.
Alllllrighty then! New stuff…check. TarkilnForager is an amazing forager…check. Onto the promos and free stuffs!

Oak Ridge, TN 37830 USA, is where the atom bombs were built that “ended” world war II. “the secret city”.
The Oak Ridge strain has no residual radiation, however where found, there were some mutated specimens. The soil was tested for mercury that was near the find, no trace amounts. As far as nuclear irradiation, no way jose.”
