RAMBLES IN BLACK, COUPONS/GIVEAWAYS IN RED, UPDATES/NEW IN BLUE

Mycobrethren and mycosistren, welcome to the mycoparty 🙂

As some of you may remember, I asked for suggestions on names for a couple new duck friends a few weeks ago and settled on “Taz” and “Tweetie”. I would see them out on the water every single time I’d go, without fail. They’d even come up to my paddle board and say hello. But ever since I was excited to address them by name, they haven’t been seen! If you’re reading this Taz or Tweetie, I miss you guys and I hope you’re enjoying some shade during these days of fire.

I was thinking about them the last time I went out on the lake, and it was rather windy. Usually I paddle out a bit against the current so I can read or just relax and let the breeze slowly drift me back to home base. But this day, I took the easy route first, knowing it would force a bit of a workout on the journey back. The wind started picking up, and I quickly realized I was basically screwed. With just about all of my might (I’m a small guy…picture a gnome/elf looking goblin splashing to save his life), I’m paddling just to stay in place. I stop for 5 seconds to drink water and I’m completely turned around heading full speed in the opposite direction. Laughing my ass off.

That strong gust of wind didn’t last too long. I was able to get turned back around and head back easily, but mindful of the wind that could steer me off track. When the nose of my board would start heading off course, I’d remind myself that I need to set my focus on where I want to go, not look in the direction that I’m afraid of going. Staying the course head-on, even with little progress, was more effective than all the energy I would spend getting back on track if I was reckless and got completely spun around.

And well…that’s life! Life is good 🙂 Life is….but a breeze. We all have windy lives. Gusts vary. Sometimes we get swooped and scuzzled out of nowhere. Sometimes it’s our fault. Sometimes it’s not. But giving energy toward something we can’t control is taking energy away from what we can control. Don’t give up, do your best, and enjoy the ride 🙂

Oooh and if life gives you cacti, make juice! I’m sipping on some extremely labor intensive delicious juice from those prickly pear cacti I showed off last week, and made some lovely jelly with my beautyberries. If you want a recipe for thornjuice or my bush jelly, hit me up.

Last week, we gave away 2 varieties of colonized oyster grain spawn, hardwood sawdust substrate, 2.5 lb. and 5 lb. All-In-One bags, beginners and advanced genetic boxes, a gourmet mega pack and spoobs on the Discord! We’ll do another couple gives on Friday afternoon and keep it going as many times as the entries increase! I can’t think of a more confusing way to explain that, I’m sorry. Pretty much, just enter the thingy and win free stuffs.

I added an invite counter to the server today, and I believe keeps track of how many users join the server by your unique invite code that you can share with others. I’m making a reward system where you can grab some free stuff from the shop earned from Discord invites 🙂

Also, mention your order number if you leave a review on the subreddit, and I’ll hook you up in the most exquisite way on the next one! Any shout outs are appreciated, and mentions on other forums and things like that really help out so much <3 Those will be treated the same as reviews for the reward stuffs, and any old school former points shop peeps will be retroactive.

In the world of NEWs, what was once available only on swabs is now available to the masses in good ol multispore syringes….my good friend OG DC!

OG DC is insanely cool. DC is the name of a mycologist wizard guy (if that issss your real name) who does amazing genetic work with the melmac line. Many are familiar with DC Melmac (or DC Mak) and this is said to be a generation prior. Absolutely incredible.

A new variety pack has landed in ze shop this week! A lot of talk in the Discord and many requests for me to pick one of my more interesting cubes made me create the FUNKY DUCKS pack, where you get 6 fascinating cubensis varieties, plus one “unlisted” variety from my personal stash that is not available in the shop. These would be varieties with cool mutations, beautiful colors, look like the virgin Mary, spell your name, etc. This is not recommended for beginners, and if you do not want any swab packs included, please note your order before submitting!

I do think it’s worth mentioning for beginners specifically…I know Golden Teacher has a certain ring to it. Everyone knows it. Classic. But don’t sleep on some other beginner friendly varieties. Cambodian Gold includes GT in the cross and is always amazing. Matapanas, Treasure Coast and Thai Pink Buffalo are all superfine. 10/10 would.

The first 20 orders after this post goes live (5pm CST 8/21) will receive a special “unlisted” spore syringe FREE with their order! I have a handful of this…a handful of that, all absent from the shop. All pretty special 🙂

All EVEN numbered orders on 8/21 will receive a free spore print magnet/pin with their order!

All ODD numbered orders on 8/21 will receive an ODDBALL (Funky Duck) cubensis variety with their order! A most peculiar cubensis indeed.

All order numbers ending in “0” on 8/21 will get a $50 credit good for supplies and gourmet cultures at millywycomycology.com!
