Happy New Year fam!

Another amazing year in the books! I have an immense feeling of appreciation and gratitude for all the support y’all have given me through the years.

In previous years, I have set on a quest to balance my inner self and work on my chakras around the first of the year. It doesn’t get any more woo-woo than this, folks! But doing this program of sorts has helped me get centered, even if only due to increased intention, awareness and healthy habit forming. Take it or leave it, I’d like to share my own journey with you all through this process.

The first chakra of focus lies at the base of your spine and is called the Muladhara, or Root Chakra. This is the foundation…the first building block of 7 primary chakra centers leading up the spine and through the crown of your head. Each chakra is associated with a color. Each week over the next couple months, we will focus on a new chakra in it’s associated color theme (I love color!!).

The root chakra’s color is red, and is associated with safety, security and survival. In my experience going through this process, this is the most important chakra to align before moving through the other chakras. I have After the root chakra, it isn’t necessary to work on the next in line before moving up through the system. Some chakras may be aligned, while others need more attention. I’ll go over how to assess whether a chakra is in alignment in each chakra’s week. And as always, this is my take on how these energy centers interact with my balance, mindset and spiritual wellbeing.

When the root chakra is in harmony, we feel profoundly connected to nature, very grounded and connected to the earth. We feel safe, and trust in the natural laws of the universe. We are able to take cues in life to move through the ebb and flow freely and trust that we are on the right path. Some signs of the root chakra being out of alignment we feel disconnected from mother earth and don’t feel our basic human survival needs are being met. This can be a ROOT cause of anxiety, immune related disorders and illness, depression and a ton of other imbalances you really don’t want lingering around! This is the main reason why I say this chakra is so important to balance before moving through the rest of the system. You’re not going to be too effective, clear headed and focused to work on other areas if you’re anxious or full of anxiety and depression. In each of these chakra balance cycles I’ve done, I have felt an enormous weight lifted and had many problems resolved after balancing my root chakra.

I have always advocated for starting your day with a quick meditation. Even just 5 minutes can completely change your brain chemistry going forward and allow you to be less reactive, more intentional and an amazing sense of inner peace. During these chakra weeks, I like to focus as much as possible on that specific energy center, and bring attention to that chakra with my breath. A guided meditation to set a good structure is incredibly helpful, and adding in certain things like mantras (repeated words or phrases that resonate with your practice) and mudras (hand formations usually used during meditation) can also help bring your awareness to that location.

Yoga is another helpful practice to incorporate into your routine. It gives a mindful start to the day, helps with circulation, and focuses your energy on the areas needing attention. In ways that I have not yet learned about, certain essential oils have been associated with helping chakras get in alignment. The root chakra has a few oils to add into your daily, including sandalwood, patchouli, and myrrh. Certain crystals also resonate with the same frequency as the root chakra, including ruby, garnet, red jasper, fire agate, bloodstone and a small handful of other beautiful gems.

As with the mudras, the mantras, oils and crystals….this is all very woo. I know. I’m the woomaster general. But in each of these additions to your practice, even if it isn’t the specific scent coming through or how you hold your hands or what words you say…each can be a reminder to bring your breath and awareness to that area. Think of it like huddling up all of your cells and pointing them in a specific direction with a clear mission to heal and center.

Each time I see red out and about…red lights, red trees, berries, brake lights…I take an intentional breath and recenter. I go as far as to shop mainly for red foods during “root week”. It makes me more intentional with what I’m consuming and helps bring focus whenever I eat something red. Plus if you’re an indecisive grocery shopper, it helps narrow down your options 🙂

I remember learning the skills in agar work being something that catapulted my mycology proficiency and opened up a world of curiosity and experimentation. I realized after I made the last post that I unintentionally made it seem like I was getting ANOTHER new site…which I am not. I am simply combining this genetics site with the other merch site and adding a better processor for PayPal and credit/debit cards (formerly ebay checkout system).

All supplies can be found in the store on this site, as I am phasing out the other site heyoo!! The other site was causing mucho confusion on where to go for different things and how to place orders properly, so now we have everything all huddled up into this one site.

Instead of using ebay checkout to complete a payment if necessary to use PayPal or card, I now have a separate site setup at millywycomerch.com where you can complete your transaction. Instructions are given at checkout and with your order confirmation email. And one of the best things about this switch in options is reduced fees! I added a totally optional fee/tip box a few weeks ago if you would be so kind and generous to cover fees associated with using these methods. That box has changed from the former eBay’s fee of 15% to the new Shopify fee of 5% woot woot!@millywyco

Also, with the new shop items, I’ve restructured the shipping rates that were being offered on the supply only site. For most orders including supplies, shipping will be the same rate up to 5 lbs, and the rate from 5-20 lbs also remains the same. So if you already have 5+ lbs of items in your cart, you can go up to 20 without having to pay any additional shipping!

In the world of new genetics, what once was only offered in swab packs are now available in the tried and trusted good ol traditional spore syringes, please welcome MENACE to the squad! This one is not something I’d recommend for beginners, but is certainly doable for all skill levels. Along with Taman Negara, these are some of the most gorgeous cubensis fruits I’ve had the pleasure of laying my eyeballs on.
