Welcome back, ever evolving, ever changing, ever LOVING peoples!

Soooo I’m not sure what exactly changed over the past week or so. Perhaps the poles shifted. Perhaps the full moon last week brought some things into alignment. Perhaps CERN shutting down the hadron collider closed a portal. Or maybe even Harambe was resurrected (a man can dream). Regardless of who or what I point the finger at, things be CHANGIN’!

Also despite the look on this (late) handsome fella’s face, it is in fact changing for the better! What is “it”? Well…that’s for you to decide. But for me personally, along with many of my local homies, friend circles in other areas, and many of the beautiful souls and lifelong friends I’ve met in the community, I’ve noticed quite the turn around in motivation, excitement, attitude and mindset, goals, and positive outlooks for the future! Outlooks, I say! HOORAH!!

So for whatever reason you would like to think and thank, things are on the up and up allll around this rock! People that don’t normally dream (or remember them, rather) are having some incredibly vivid, and sometimes lucid dreams, consistently like never before! Myself and a few friends have gotten back into our dream journals to jot some dreams down AS SOON AS WE WAKE UP or they’re gone forever. Even if you think you’ll remember…don’t trust it! That’s just your sleepy brain being overconfident (in my case anyway). It’s super cool to receive messages from your subconscious and might contain an easter egg or two. Don’t deprive yourself of this wonderful dreamland and the ability to work through your dreams in this reality too!

Another thing I’ve been experiencing in the past week or so has been an incredible sense of empathy and compassion! I know, I know…you’re like “this guy mushrooms…” which does make sense. I am who I am and I do what I do. But believe it or not, this is without any fungi influence, so I can only imagine this would be amplified with the medicine. I’ll be just jamming out, doing my thing boppin’ around and all of a sudden…WHOOSH! A HUGE flood of endorphins floods my mind and heart with an overwhelming sense of gratitude and bliss. We’re talking goosebumps in areas I didn’t know could bump geese type bliss. Eyeballs sweating type bliss. Such an uplifting feeling, out of nowhere, where all I can do is put my hands over my heart and say “thank you”.

Times like these, especially when corroborated by my peers, confirm to me that we are absolutely in an upswing of the times. Now, more than ever, is an excellent time to make some positive changes and take advantage of this burst of momentum. It’s like we’ve been climbing this massive roller coaster for quiiiite some time now, we hit that super scary peak right about this time last week. While that steep hill is slightly utterly terrifying to watch on the way down (change), if we embrace it, it will be a breeze and we all can just enjoy the rewards that follow.

I’ve taken this time to re-arrange my workflow and it has helped me out tremendously! So many times in the past week, I’ve checked the time and had to do a double take because I thought it was later than it actually was. Tasks and processes have flowed so much smoother and things just feel “right”. Synchronicities are on the rise in the best way possible, letting me know I’m on the right track and giving me a bit of motivation to stay the course.

I like to keep my pulse on things out there in the wild, and like I said, I’m hearing the same kinds of things all around. Friends are seemingly effortlessly accomplishing their goals that they’ve had set for a long time, people and opportunities are coming their way with impeccable timing, and overall, they seem to be looked out for. This seems to be universal at the moment, which is why I’m encouraging everyone to EMBRACE THE CHANGE! Even if that change is not something you’re super excited about. I mean, who is, honestly. Some people like ever changing lives and don’t fit into a routine, but most get comfortable and complacent in a groove (or rut) and it’s super easy to stay in that zone and have resistance to this change. But while we’re still in the beginning of this alignment, grab that change by the nads and run with it. If you need to approach change with baby steps, so be it. Move the chair that’s always been on that side of the room or use a different cup for your morning coffee. Take a slightly different route to work or something. And when you notice your mind expanding, opening up to new perspectives, understanding challenging concepts you’ve been tinkering with and uplifting you in a way you haven’t felt in who knows how long, just give thanks and be grateful. Those next changes will be less intimidating and more exciting. Keep that ball rollin’ and REALLY unleash your potential!

I’m telling you…NOW is the time to make the changes you’ve been putting off forever (trust me bro). No matter what you’re doing or where you are in life, remember that you are doing exactly what you need to do, in exactly the right place, at exactly the right time. Not where you want to be? You’re not a failure. You’re right on time. Everything has led up to this moment with a divine plan that you will likely reflect on at a later time and think “damn…I had no idea”. Everything will become clear when the time is right. But for now, as small or big as it might be, embrace that change. Love everyone, especially yourself. Constantly thank the universe for your blessings and watch your life truly be elevated beyond what you ever imagined possible. Go rock out with your bad self. I love you <3

Hey there!  I’m BrogueOne and I am a musician, chef, artist and generally crafty person.  Being born in the early 80s I cut my teeth on punk rock shows, warehouse raves, drag bars and dive bars and spent 20 years of my working life as a professional cook.  I am no stranger to doing the dirty work and learning to adapt to challenges and the unexpected. 

It all started a few years ago when my boyfriend expressed an interest in trying psychedelics for the first time.  I hadn’t done them in years, but I got in touch with a friend of a friend who was growing mushrooms and he told me how he started microdosing to get off of opioid pain medication which lead him to cultivation.  I was also taking opioid medication every day to manage my chronic pain from my time as a chef and I quickly discovered how micro (and the occasional macro) dosing helped me in the same way.  Once he showed me his grow setup I immediately went home and spent weeks watching YouTube videos and buying supplies.

I decided it was the most cost efficient to make everything from scratch and I had a LOT of mistakes starting out:  improperly sterilized grain, overcooked grain, bloody fingers from fumbling syringes, bad SAB practices, substrate too wet/dry, a whole rainbow of contamination to marvel at!  It was definitely frustrating, but I took the time to understand what went wrong and how to fix it next time.  I spent too many years following recipes and doing kitchen prep not to.

That experience has made growing mushrooms a very natural and rewarding hobby for me and I’d like to pass on some DIY tips and pointers that have helped me be a successful cultivator.

1. K.I.S.S. (Keep it simple, stupid) is a mantra to remind me that none of this is complicated and you don’t need the best or the fanciest equipment or supplies to make it happen.  With good genetics and clean work you can pack tubs with just brown rice and plain coco coir.  Start with the basics and everything else will fall into place.
2. A.B.C. (Always be cleaning) means to make sure you clean and sanitize your equipment and work surfaces before, during, and after you do your mycology work.  I recommend using bleach and soap to clean your grow tubs and your substrate buckets thoroughly before use as well as the standard step of wiping everything down with isopropyl alcohol.
3. Get a pressure cooker, preferably a 23qt if you can.  I got mine for 25 bucks off FB Marketplace and they’re frequently available for below retail if you take the time to dig.  It’s the single most useful investment you can make and it pays for itself almost immediately.  **Please learn how to safely use it too!**
4. BE CONSISTENT!  Dial in your process based on your environment and what works for you, then stick with it.  
5. Listen to the mycelium.  It takes a few grows (good and bad) to really understand this one, but every grow has something to teach you whether it’s something about airflow or moisture or temperature.  The mushrooms know how to grow, we’re just here to give them a good home to do so.

I know early in my journey there was a LOT of trial and error on my part, but as long as you’re willing to analyze and learn from your failures you can find your way to success.  And as long as you’re willing to continue learning you will only get better at not just mycology, but life itself!

Unfortunately, due to (my best guess) temperatures during transit causing agar plates to act a damn fool, I am suspending agar service until the earth cools just a tad. Couldn’t quite narrow down what is at fault here, and I’m having too many people report that some of their plates are wet or contaminated. Will continue to try and find the culprit with a few volunteers. For now, no agar is listed on the site, but can fulfill by request under certain circumstances. Hit me up if it’s absolutely a need and we’ll make it happen.
