Actual Mushroom Day (10/15) Update:

The 3D printed mushtainers donated by @Psilly_Goose are still en route to me! I saw the package on my informed delivery yesterday and thought it was landing, but now realize it’s taking its time and is set to land on Saturday. Anyone who requested one of these super friggin awesome containers will ship on Saturday. Appreciate your patience and sorry about that!

The great @Kapko has also tossed in some 3D creations! These nifty MW agar punches will be going out with all swab and agar plate orders, and anyone not placing a swab or plate order can totally have one too by request. Just add a note at checkout and I’ll include it (if available)! These are novelty punches that you can use to cut a wedge of agar to transfer to a new plate. Just wipe it down with a bit of iso alcohol after using and it’s good to go!

WW/Mushroom Day Post (10/14):

We’re doing a double whammy with this one to include National Mushroom Day tomorrow along with the festivities! I’ve been saving some pretty cool things to roll out this year and IIIIIIT’S TIIIIME!!! You better have read that in Bruce Buffer’s voice!

The post today is only updates on some shop changes and excitement about the Mushroom Day festivities. The hug your mom/call a tree messages will resume next week, as will the “guest writer” sharing their story as part of @BingoSmoke’s generous giveaways he’s been hosting for the past few months. We’ll still have his giveaway this evening though, don’t worry! Mucho All-In-One bags finding homes this lovely day!

First off, we have some really amazingly crafted creations by a few members of our awesome community here! Big thanks to UnderdogArtisan, Smushem and Psilly_Goose for making this a super special day with some good goods! I’m keeping some of them a secret until you get them, but can’t help but show off these hella cool 3D MW mushie containers Psilly gave us! Perfect for capsules or whatever dodads you can fit in there. Check it! These will be given first come first served by request (add a note at checkout) and at random if we have some left over after requests.

And from yours truly, some of you will be getting a nice bag of sterilized corn with your order! I experimented (poorly) with a handful of different types of corn in the past year. Found out what NOT to do when hydrating, sterilizing and all that good stuff. I even sent some out as freebies to get feedback, and clearly had no idea what I was doing at the time. But since then, things are DIALED! It would be so fitting around Halloween to hand out “candy corn”, or drippy corn, but through my experimentation, I found regular corn does better in the full cycle of things over adding corn syrup, so these are just regular corn. Love it!

In the new news from the shop, we now have a section for ISOLATED SPORE SYRINGES! This is only the beginning and many more will be added over the next few weeks, but we have some super cool and popular ones to start out with!

Also in the form of regular spore syringes, this week we’re bringing back Dancing Tiger, Nepal Chitwan, as well as exotics Ps. Azurescens and Ps. Tampanensis, and adding a very special one I’ve been on the hunt for, for quite some time, SYZYGY! Syzygy is the name of Terence and Dennis McKenna’s first ever spore vending gig when they lived in Hawaii! They collected a specemin in the Amazon and the rest is history. How fitting for a Mushroom Day release!

Also added a couple new spore swabs: El Dragon and Blue Voodoo for you agar lovers! Special treat coming with all agar and swab orders as well…shhh!!

On the supply side of things, I’ve been making changes!! CHANGES I SAY! For the longest time, I was using 4T unicorn bags for the 2.5lb AIOs (same bags the 2lb grains come in) and 10T for the 5lb AIOs (typically what 3-4lb grains come in). I started sending gallon sized ziplock bags to dome over them when they inevitibly need more room as they grow, but decided enough is enough! I’ve taken both up a notch and I think the size difference will not only allow them to grow to their full potential (comfortably), but also allow for a more thorough and easier break and shake when the grains are colonized. Since these bags are wider that the previous AIOs, just be sure to angle your syringe needle down so it mainly hits the layer of grains at the bottom. And don’t go crazy with it! Just 1mL usually does just fine. There is a bit of wiggle room there, but if you go shooting them up with half a syringe or something, they’re more susceptible to wet rot. We no like wet rot.

I’ve also introduced some smaller substrate bags to the shop! Many use these as a bit of a “make your own” AIO bag and works perfectly. My typical ratio is 2lb grain spawn to 3lb substrate when spawning into a bag, so these work great with the most popular 2lb size grain bags. Just let your grains colonize, break em up, add into the 3lb bag of substrater and either seal it back up, or roll the bag and chip clip it. From there, you pretty much just watch the magic happen!

While we’re on the topic of supplies and things, I made some new status updates you can check from your account to see the progress of your order! Supply orders typically ship on Tuesdays and Fridays, but occasionally they ship early or a day late. Now, you can go into your account and check the flow of your supplies by clicking “order details” and looking on the top left side of the screen. The flow for most supply orders will show as follows:

Payment Pending>Payment Received>Prepping your order>In the Autoclave (Shipping tomorrow!)>Packing Order> Order Shipped.

Think of it like a Domino’s tracker! Instead of pizza in the oven, it’s your grains in the autoclave. This will be updated for all unshipped orders daily, so you can get an idea of when it will ship!

Of course we’ll have a metric butt load of giveaways starting this evening, and we’ll have another set scheduled for tomorrow night as well for the actual Mushroom Day! One lucky person will score a PRESSURE COOKER set to go live in the #giveaways channel on Discord at 5pm tomorrow!
