Happy (finally) Fall, friends!!

We did iiit! We survived one hell of a wicked summer! And when I say “we” I mean most of you….I’m used to a “false Fall” here in Austin where we get a slight drop in temps only to be scorched again a week or two later. But with the Autumn equinox turning over on Monday, I am unbelievably, unreasonably, and sometimes irresponsibly excited for some leaves to drop, hoodie and shorts weather, Octoberfest events, Halloween and a whole gaggle of other fun fall stuffs. Definitely my favorite time of year, hands down. I feel like it just screams mushroom weather!

Alsooo…we have a super dandy FULL MOON coming up here on Saturday! The HARVEST moon! Peak time is around 12 noon, so Friday night and Saturday night should have about the same view of her beauty and is a great time to set some new intentions and have a thankfulness ritual. I feel a little fire outside a brewin’!

I know I say this pretty often, but just to reiterate…this community if friggin awesome. Almost every day I’m hearing from someone about cookin’ up a care package to send to another member, sending well wishes here and there, gifting genetics, dice rolls and giveaways, and just checking in with each other to make sure we are all lifted and gifted. It really warms my heart to see everyone come together, help each other out, pick each other up when we’re down and be just genuinely amazing human beings. Keep on rockin’ out and spreading the love <3

I’m observing this mostly through Disc DM’s, as I haven’t had a lick of time to be involved much in the public channels lately becauuuuseeee… I’m moving next week! It’s been a long time coming and I’ve had oh so many frustrating complications in the process of finding a new spot, but it’s finally happening. I’m still sticking around Austin, just moving to a new house and area that better fits my needs.

With my previous move, I worked worked worked and put off packing until pretty much the day of (coo coo caca insano, I know) and even worked on moving day, which made things…errm…not ideal. I’m learning from past mistakes though! I’ve been steadily, slowly but surely, packing up over the last couple weeks and feel I am more prepared than I’ve been in the past. I plan on taking a couple days around the first of the month to do things the right way, so there will be no Wyco Wednesday next week on the 30th. I’ll take some time to get all settled in, and we’ll have a pretty good shebang coming back for the first WW of October on the 7th. Some magnificent community members have sent some really cool stuff in the past week or so that I’m sitting on, so we’ll have some nice surprises for everyone then too. I’ve been working on some fantastic new genetics, new supplies, and a few modifications to current items in the shop that I know you all will love.

When looking at my responsibly planned (heyooo) schedule over the next week, shipping orders shouldn’t be interrupted until next Wednesday 9/30. Until then, business as usual, and as always, I’ll reach out if there’s any reason an order would be delayed. I’m trying to time my restock of supplies to land at the new spot so I don’t have as much to move, but I’ll make an announcement if anything is going dark for a few days so you can prepare. You do you…I’ll make it work no matter what, but it would help me plan as best as possible of any large orders you plan on making happened sooner rather than later, so I don’t have a backlog when I get up and running the first week of October.

Alsooo…I hate to do this and it doesn’t happen often, but due to an increase in cost of many of my supplies, some items in the shop will have a slight price increase next month. Genetics will not see a change, but some grains, other supplies, and shipping will rise just slightly…nothing too major. Big boo, but I’m doing this to align with inflation and to make sure I stick around and continue to put my heart and soul into every order that goes out the door. Thanks for understanding! Current shop and shipping prices will remain the same from now until next WW on the 7th.

What’s up everyone, glad to be here and present in this community, it’s truly remarkable what you have all built together. Each and every single one of you should feel proud and accomplished, it’s no easy feat to bring this many people together from different backgrounds and walks of life, and have a safe space where we can all feel comfortable sharing, being vulnerable, and escaping the everyday monotony.

Little bit about myself, I’m a blue collar guy from Michigan, I enjoy the outdoors a lot, like working with my hands, a sponge for knowledge. Love learning when I can, and trying to be more open to learn more things I previously had shut out or not given the time to. I have an absolutely beautiful wife who is my everything and nemesis at the same time(that’s how you know it’s real right?) and 2 dogs, Henry is an adhd kid that forgot his Ritalin and Gus is a pigmy hippo looking  Staffie that would sleep 22 hours a day if he got a 20 min walk and some food.

So like just about anyone I have trauma, I personally have been going to the dr for decades, on random prescriptions to fix “this”, but cause “that”, so here is a pill for “that” but it also causes “this other thing”, and after going round and round for too long, seeing improvement then setbacks, then upped doses, then med changes, I figured there has to be better ways. In 2024 I started doing some research and almost instantly I found multiple things saying “mushrooms”, not necessarily actives but mushrooms in general. So I started doing some research and overthinking things because that’s what I do, I basically just talked myself out of doing it.

Last year I hard a really hard revelation, and decided to try therapy, big step for a guy who doesn’t ask anyone for anything at all ever, and doing so I decided it was time to adjust my meds again, so we did the round and round with the pills and dosages again, different dr., same results, and finally I said enough, i had won a giveaway 10/24 and put the stuff in the fridge because I didn’t know what to do yet, so I ordered an AIO, pulled the genetics out of the fridge I had been holding onto for probably 16months at this point and said here goes nothing, and that’s literally what happened, NOTHING. So undeterred, I got onto Reddit, started checking some pages, went onto YouTube and watched some videos, found out about the servers on Discord, which I already had from ordered 420 deliveries, ended up finding the person who originally sent me the stuff from a FB giveaway under a different username, purchased a colonized grain bag and a couple plates, and tried again. Bought the inflatable mono tub, made my own CV blend and mixed that grain bag. After that I was hooked, been through 3 different grow areas in my house in 8 months now because I keep growing out of room.

The community has been everything I needed lately, been going through a lot of personal things, lost a lot of close friends(not dead, just not taking), and it’s nice having complete strangers check in, lend advice, “do some craic”.

I have written and rewritten this so many times in the past week, trying to say something profound or insightful, giving myself anxiety for literally zero reason, then I realized this is what I’m gonna write about. All the pressure we put on ourselves to do things a certain way, to live up to others expectations and standards, when the only person we need to be true to is ourselves. We care so much about what others think and their opinions, it kills so much joy in life, stay weird, be silly, live your life and be unapologetically you, what’s really the worst thing that will happen.

HAPPY BELATED MOTHERCRAICIN’ BIRTHDAY @Psilly_Goose!!! Dudeman’s birthday was this past Saturday and is one of the finest and most hilarious members around these parts. Make sure to give him a shout!

Correction from last week’s special Wednesday give – I’m a dufus. I’d been working with Kualoa for a while (what I described as looong stems with Hershey’s kiss dark brown caps) and had always labeled it as such. When I went to print labels for the syringe bags, I got the red squiggly, which convinced me I misspelled it all along and was supposed to be Koala. It was indeed supposed to be labeled as Kualoa – a wild variety collected from the beautiful nature preserve in Hawaii, NOT the cute little Koala bear. My apologies (and thanks @MycoAngelo and @UnderdogArtisan for pointing that out!)

CVG Mulch is back in stock!! This was originally an error in what was shipped from my coir dealer, but after sending it to a few friends and working with it myself, I found a new substrate to experiment with and we all LOVED it! This mulch has CHUNKS of coconut coir, rather than finely shredded coir as you’re probably used to. These chunks allow for better aeration and quicker colonization while still providing the field capacity water content mushies love.

B+ syringes are also back in stock after a short break woot woot!!

Shipping update:

As usual lately, USPS is on the struggle bus. They’ve recently made some policy changes where they are NOT scanning in packages for the acceptance scan. In most cases, they are also only scanning in entire BINS of packages along the way, rather than the individual packages themselves, leaving everyone wondering where the heck their stuff is. That, combined with taking on some contracts from Amazon and others to deliver their packages, while being understaffed and not replacing retiree positions, makes for some spotty updates. I do have one very kind mail gentleman who scans in packages, but he’s a fill-in and I don’t see him often. In most cases, you’ll see the status of “Label Created”, and not much, if anything after that until it’s on the truck for delivery in your city. Any additional updates along the way are a nice bonus right now. Some orders are landing in 3-4 days, while others look like the screenshot below, taking its time and keeping you in suspense. It sucks and I know this isn’t ideal, but know when you do get that tracking link in your email, unless I’ve reached out to you because of some outlier issue, your order is in fact on the way. I’ve been taking pictures of orders as they go out, so feel free to reach out if you want peace of mind that it is en route…I really don’t mind at all. I’ve been on the receiving end of getting tracking for a “ghost label” before (when a shipper sends tracking to appease you long before it actually ships) and it’s a shady practice that I will never do.

A 1lb box runs around $30 for shipping alone…5lb can be around $100, and some of these gives are heavier than that, running $200+ overseas, with high potential of getting stuck in customs and never actually arriving.
