In talks with a handful of the lovely folks in the community lately and local friends, I’ve noticed a theme coming up pretty frequently: ENERGY

Not so much the Red Bull kind of energy…though I could go for some wings for sure. And I have been getting down with a bit of the ol Yerba Maté to up my own energy. But I’m talking about the natural energy swirling all around us at all times. The good energy and the “bad” energy. Some of us are affected more than others, and it seems the more balanced and “in tune” we try to be, the more susceptible we are to the swings these energies provide.

This isn’t always a bad thing, though! Whether you believe in God or any deities, spirits, spiritual guides, or the magnificent power of the universe itself, we can be protected, uplifted and surrounded by good energies. We can also be tempted, pushed and pulled, divided and separated by some nefarious energies out there. These energies that are up to no good don’t particulary like the loving, soul searching positive energy that we’re putting out on the daily, so we have to be vigilant and know how to combat them.

I often talk about feeling through your heart center, trusting your gut and intuition through meditation, yoga, breathwork and a handful of other protective practices to create a forcefield they just cannot break through, but I know these methods are not for everyone. It takes some practice and rhythm to really get into the flow of most of these techniques, and lets face it…not everyone has the discipline or the time to dedicate to fine tune these routines. Life be lifin’ out there! And that’s ok. But there’s one thing I do know…these bad spirits/energy swirls/whatever you want to call them DO NOT like to be banished. And one sure fire way of ridding these energies is through what I call “holy smokes!” such as sage and Palo Santo.

If you don’t have the time to work on your routine with any of the above mentioned centering practices, it only takes a few minutes to smudge your way through your space, and they will absolutely just nope the hell out. WHOOSH! BEGONE!! It’s like an exorcism of bad motherf’kin vibes. Evil spirits hate this one simple trick. They cleanse the mind, bosy and space of negative energies and can do WONDERS for your mental if you feel like you’re being attacked in any way shape or form. Feeling funky? Smudge it up, homie. Get those demons the hell out of there because they have no place being in your space.

Set an intention before you light your sage or Palo Santo, and keep that intention at the forefront of your mind as you walk through your space fanning the smoke toward all walls, corners, nooks and crannys. The more specific your intention, the better. Native Americans use a feather to waft the smoke around and go clockwise around your space while doing so. If you have a shell or a bowl that is significant to you, use that as a holder so you don’t burn the place down. Literally anything that you have or can add to this ritual will make it that much more effective. Any crystals you can have on your person or artifacts from lost loves ones will infuse this smudging ritual with their protection. Go slow and just feel the energy around you heal and cleanse, bringing you into a more centered and balanced state of mind. Finish with some DEEEP breaths with your eyes closed and hands on your heart and give thanks for the clarity and positivity.

Somewhat off topic here, but I believe another way spirits/bad energies can infiltrate your mind is through the almighty (evil) algorithms! I mean, they might not necessarily actually be evil, but we’ve all heard conflict keeps people more engaged than positive content. It gets us riled up! Cortisol levels rise! And those negative energies absolutely FEAST on that kind of stuff. But take into consideration that algorithms do want to keep you more engaged, no matter what the cost! It all boild down to co$t anyway, and you ARE the product. If you are like 99+% of people susceptible to “scrolling”, what if…just WHAT IF…when you reach something that really makes your blood boil, you quit the app. Scroll away until something you see or read makes you upset, then immediately close out. With that kind of training, I bet it will start to show you less and less of what loses your attention in that way. Will the next doom scroll be all rainbows and puppies? Maybe not…but over time, you’re training the app to realize if it’s not giving you what makes you feel GOOD, you’re outta here, buster! You’re letting it know you like to learn useful/productive information over mind numbing slop. Positivity over conflict. I could be wrong…by all means, just quit the damn thing. But if you MUST…try just changing the activity at the moment you feel some type of negative way and see what happens after a while.

Back on topic…I think it would be freakin SWEET if we all did some kind of collective vibe raising activity. We’re in all parts of the country (and the world!) in this community, and if we all just did a short and sweet gratitude practice…say at noon on Wednesdays or something, and did a few deep breaths, said “THANK YOU!” and really settled into our heart center, I bet we would feel connected as the mycelium has taught us. Day and time up for debate, but would be cool to have as many of us as possible connected, united and intent toward a common goal of peace and positivity. I’ll bring the Palo Santo!

I’ve grown too much Lion’s Mane! Actually, no such thing! But I have slightly OD’d on fresh Lion’s Mane, so YOU. SHALL. BENEFIT! Lion’s Mane capsules for all today woot woot!

I see many of you have all kinds of fancy contraptions and amazing looking grow spaces, tents, lights, tubes, timers and doohickeys…and I love that!! But for the new guy or gal out there, I want to remind you that you can absolutely get started with some grains, substrate and a culture…don’t overcomplicate it. I’m not saying it’s a bad thing to have all the cool stuff. It’s awesome. But for years, I’ve been fruiting my LM on the kitchen counter with no special equipement and consistently get 2lb on the first flush (1lb per pom). Could you do better? Sure. Absolutely. Could it look better? Yah, I’m sure. But this is how mine turns out every time, just misting when I walk by and whispering sweet nothings. Just get going and infuse it with love and it’ll love you back <3

Also a note about the horrendous shipping situation as of late:

Some packages are going at light speed to their destination, landing in 3-4 days flat. Most are not. USPS has had some policy changes recently, where they are not instructed to scan in packages at acceptance. The acceptance scan gives all of you peace of mind knowing I didn’t just print a label and have a stack on my desk, but they actually received it and is in transit. Most of that has unfortunately gone away. But know this….I do not tolerate “Ghost labels”. If you’re unfamiliar with that term, it’s when a merchant prints a label and emails you tracking to make it seem like it’s on its way, when in fact it’s still in their posession. I do not do that. Eeeeevery once in a while, I’ll print a label and realize the order needs attention and does not ship that day, but that is VERY rare and I contact those people in those rare circumstances. If you receive a tracking email, it is on the way. And if you don’t take my word for it, I don’t blame you AT ALL. Becuase of these recent changes, I’m taking pictures of all orders shipping out (with time stamps) and wouldn’t be offended in the least if you message or email me to ask “did this really go out?” to which I will show you that it has in fact been sent and we are at the mercy of our dear postal workers.

Many packages are moving in “bulk bins” meaning they don’t even get the scan at the warehouse as it moves through their system. Often times, I’m seeing the status of “USPS awaiting item” (making me look like a damn liar!) and the next scan showing “out for delivery”. It is what it is…but please contact me if you have ANY doubts or questions and I’ll see if I can provide any clarity.

Hello fellow psychonauts, mushie enthusiasts, and growers of all stages, this is SIN and I’d like to share with you a little about my journey into the Mycosphere and what Mycology means to me and my family.

As far as I can tell I’m one of the older heads of our little community so I may have a slightly different insight into our little hobby. As far as experience goes, I’m highly versed in the ways of psychedelics, both recreational and taking personal journeys to try and heal my extremely damaged psyche.

Like many of you I come from a very long line of addicts and was born into a life of trauma. Police, Firetruck, Ambulance was my childhood. I won’t go into all the sadness, but I will speak to one of the bigger traumas that led me to seek the healing of mushroom medicine.

In 2019 I was in a car accident that left me permanently disabled. It ended my career and my ability to provide for my family. I eventually was so deep in a spiral of pain and despair that I lost my wife and kids and everything I owned.

Every “friend” I had abandoned me and I ended up having to move to Florida just to maintain my pain management, as I could find no help in the state that my children resided. But during this time, I also stumbled upon a little app called Discord. At first, I found community within the Crypto Sphere but eventually started to hear about Psilocybin and its potential to heal psychological trauma. I found a group headed by the late and great Stoneman which many of you know. Stoneman was a real one, and he took the time to teach me cultivation so that I could grow my own medicine 5 years ago or so. Alas the great Stoneman was taken from this Earth in another horrible accident like my own. His server got nuked and we all went our separate ways. This affected me greatly as he was a guiding spirit in my life even though he was much younger than I was.

I soon stopped cultivating as the medicine didn’t work with my psych meds that I was on due to being Bipolar 1. No matter what I tried it just didn’t work. So, a few years go by and round and round with psychiatrists I went to no avail and no healing. I eventually re-stumbled upon MycoGeeky and Sage and the like and my interest renewed and I decided to come off the SSRIs and Abilify and all the 5HT2A antagonists that were preventing the Mushie Medicine from healing me. I found that I needed higher doses and more potent cultivars in order to receive any benefit. And have been on a quest to capture all the 2% Pokemons ever since. I’m trying to master Cubes before I move to Pans and Exotics.

I’m currently in 10 or so mushie themed servers and have been soaking up every bit of knowledge that I can and applying them to the field. I’ve had the pleasure of running into ppl like the great Mycoangelo that without even knowing me he made the effort to expand my library and give me the tools I needed to trade with others as I didn’t have the money to keep buying new genetics. This was a kindness that I hadn’t experienced in many many years. It made me begin to open myself up again after many years of being closed off.

I guess you could say I plunged feet first into our little community and have been exposed to more kindness than I have in a decade just in this last year. I’ve been able to reduce or eliminate what meds I can get away with and have had the glorious experience of having a full-on Heroic Dose consistently enough to begin peeling back those layers of trauma and getting the motivation to pick my sorry ass back up out the dirt and move forward with my life. Without the guidance of my many mentors in this area, whom I haven’t asked permission to name, I wouldn’t be able to speak to you today. The whole process of Myco Cultivation is therapeutic to me. From spore to harvest. It is my Zen. It is my center.

I now have a spot in my life that is my own that I control that contributes to my own personal health and happiness and it’s thanks to all of you. The Myco Community is my home now and I am grateful to be able to contribute what I can to anyone needing guidance, help, or just understanding. We ARE on the precipice of greatness with this hobby as the next 10 years will change everything. And I look forward to seeing those of you who have mastered what it is today take it to the next level in the years to come.

UPDATES:

Albino A+ (AA+) has recovered from nap time and is back in the shop! While not my tippity top favorite leucistic, I do love this one and is probably the most popular leucistic cubensis variety in all of the land! I feel compelled to clarify semantics here and say, even though it has “albino” in the name, this is actually a leucistic variety and not a true albino. True albinos lack ALL pigmentation in the cap color and drop translucent spores. These leucistic types do have some color in the cap, though are still very pale or only slightly tan, and drop normal dark spores.

Entheogen Explosion has also had time to recover and is back on the roster this week! EE is totally one of my favorites because of how unique it is! I used to give away a variety called Bayamon PR from Puerto Rico, and it has a similar cap and gill structure. Look it up if you haven’t seen it…these are SUPER unique in the cubensis world and truly fascinating.

BAPER is another one I gave out on occasion and has finally hit the shop this week as an isolated syringe. BAPER is one of my all-time favorites because of how beautiful it is, having a deep and vibrant blue cap while keeping all of the desired traits from APE! Have patience with this one, but it is well worth the wait!

3lb Casing Mix is now available in ze shop! This is a standard “Jiffy Mix” blend, used for most exotic varieties and Penis Envy (and other funky funkertons) varieties to create a perfect microclimate on your substrate cake. This aint your momma’s corn muffin mix! This is a blend of peat moss, vermiculite and hydrated lime to raise the pH level. Adding about 1/2″ of a casing layer will help fend off contamination, retain humidity on the surface of your substrate, and keep a good balance of CO2 and oxygen that those tricky varieties crave. It can be used on regular cubes as well, but is not necessary.

I’ve switched up my blank agar plate supplier, and all plates now ship with cold packs to ensure they don’t get cooked and contaminated in transit! Now available in the 60mm size as well (vs standard 90mm)! These little guys are PERFECT for testing spores and LC for viability and contamination before you go inoculating grains with something you’re unsure about, and are still an excellent size to use the entire plate for inoculating grains with agar. Check the size comparison of 60mm vs 90mm below, and as always, if any plates come cracked, contaminated or fudged up in any way, I’ll make it right with ya!
