We officially made the transition from spring into summer this past weekend! Woot woot! Thankfully it hasn’t been toooo terribly hot here in Austin…yet. It’s still early. Catch me in a month or two with el nino blasting us like a furnace.

I may not be a trend setter, but I am a trend observer, and one pattern I’ve recognized over the years doing this, is that right around the solstice, things in this hobby tend to be a little more unpredictable than usual. With the climate changing and temperatures rising, you may see mycelium start to behave a little differently. The needs of the mycelium may change, and you might notice more undesirables thriving in this environment. I’ve made it through a summer without issues in the past (and I hope you do too), but don’t get discouraged if a planned project doesn’t go exactly according to plan, especially if you’re new to this dance.

We all enjoy different aspects of this hobby. For some, it’s experimentation…tweaking things like a mad scientist, trying to discover a new way to do things or just finding a different approach. For others, it’s just the simple tranquility of cultivating something you love from start to finish. But how boring would it be if we skipped all the steps in the middle and got straight to the finish line? No matter what really “does it” for each person in the hobby, I think we all agree that the process all along the way is magically fascinating and we are all blessed to have a hand in this creation.

When we face a difficult or challenging experience with the medicine, we work through it. We may not see the significance at the time, and we might need to breathe through it or talk to a loved one to process it or need a nice big hug to feel grounded. But we always come out of that experience with a new perspective and a refreshed sense of gratitude toward life. Whether it’s all sunshine and rainbows or we’re faced with something we actually need to work on, we improve and become a better person in the end. The hands-on, start to finish process that we enjoy in this hobby is no different. We have periods when everything is just as good as it could ever get and it almost seems too easy! Perhaps that was meant for you, for that time. And when things may get a little more difficult or unpredictable, that was also meant for you, for that time. Whether in that experience, or in the “prep” for that experience, you’re never faced with anything you can’t handle, improve upon, and come out even better than before. Take those hurdles and learn from them. Understand the process better. Help others understand when they’re faced with a similar situation. Take a break if you need to! Just don’t throw in the towel and give up on everything.

I’m here for you if you need to talk about literally anything (difficult experience, hardship in the hobby, or anything life related good or bad) and so are (damn near) 1,000 of the kindest, loving souls with all sorts of different backgrounds. Mushrooms brought us all together, but we are all so incredibly unique and have so mush more to offer than this one particular skillset. Sending a nice big hug to you all through the airwaves today. UPDATES:

I teased a re-work of the mycosino roll tables last week, and I shall continue to tease this week! Our senior Discord member-count analyst is projecting hitting 1,000 members by next Wednesday, July 1st. I’ll have some new options and revised quantities on those sexy prize lists next week. Updated swab and print availability and a few new varieties hitting the shop as well. This is the final tease.

I don’t want to say we’re nearing the clear on shipping, but I am seeing more orders having a smoother transit as of late. Some packages are taking some extra time to get moving and are missing some tracking updates along the way, but many more now are showing pretty average/only slightly slow transit times. Always feel free to DM or email me if you want to make sure everything has shipped and is looking good!

Thanks to a brilliant success story by our very own @ed, we’re now experimenting with some substrate for the poo lovers! Many exotic species, most notably Pan Cyans, love the nutrient rich substrates that include that stanky poo. He did some digging (pun slightly intended) and experimenting on his own and found THIS IS THE WAY! This will eventually show up in the shop after I’ve had a chance to test it thoroughly, but for the time being, feel free to add a note (at checkout with your order) on the regular CVG offered in the shop and I’ll send the nutrient dense substrate! Keep in mind this is for non-cubensis types, such as Pan Cyan, Ps. Subtropicalis and the like. Not saying don’t experiment with others, but cubes specifically typically enjoy a lower nute blend than this.

And speaking of experimental substrates, our very own @UnderdogArtisan has been playing around with perlite added to the sub for some extra aeration and ventilation for the substratation gyrations! I happened to have a massive supply on hand from an accidental order a while back, so same applies…will likely have as an official item in the shop when through testing, but for now, available by request on the normal CVG items. Quick note about giveaways on Discord: I love to accommodate anyone and everyone with these giveaways, but due to shipping cost and unreliability of getting through customs, these are currently for US addresses only. A 1lb box runs around $30 for shipping alone…5lb can be around $100, and some of these gives are heavier than that, running $200+ overseas, with high potential of getting stuck in customs and never actually arriving. If an international myconaut wins one of these, I’d be happy to send some prints or swabs your way…pretty much anything that can fit in a standard envelope and not have to pass through customs screening.
