Kings and Queens, bestowers of crowns upon caps, welcome to CROWN chakra week!

Yes, I’m still going with the light purple text. Technically, the 3rd eye color was indigo and the CROWN is violet, but my page gets all wonky when I deviate from the pre-set colors. Anywhooo CROWN chakra week is upon us! This is the final of the 7 major chakras we’ve been focusing on for the past couple months, and often the most difficult to open. But you can do eeet!

The crown chakra is located on the top of your head, and is responsible for new viewpoints, new perspectives, and connects with our source to guide us spiritually and authentically on our path. It governs insight, wisdom, understanding, trust, and compassion, and gives a feeling of deep inner peace by channeling higher energies. When our crown chakra is alive and opened wide, we are in tune with the collective consciousness, in abundance with everything, in ultimate spiritual connection.

Last week I talked about the 3rd eye chakra and how it can open us up to incredible inner wisdom and intuition, but that can often be clouded by ego if not aligned with the crown chakra. Sometimes the 3rd eye sees what ego WANTS to see. It’s impossible to truly open our 3rd eye without the crown chakra in alignment.

It’s not only the crown chakra connecting to the 3rd eye. Every chakra governs the one below it. The crown teaches the 3rd eye how to see properly and clearly, which works with the throat chakra to listen and express that truth. Naturally, this heals the heart, and being the middle chakra, aligns with divinity and higher consciousness. The heart has control of the ego in the solar plexus, which controls the impulses of the sacral chakra, helping the root chakra be efficient and not getting lost in physical reality. It’s all connected and all work together to develop a circuit of energy in the system as a whole.

I know we spend a week of focus on each chakra, but I like to reflect on previous chakras to sense if any energy is stuck or if any of the lower chakras need a little tune up, especially before practicing working with the crown. Refine and purify any chakras that feel dull or less aligned with your system to allow for this upward movement of energy to NATURALLY flow through your body. Do not force anything!

The crown chakra is the chakra most influenced by sound, but also the chakra most influenced by silence. Put those throat chakra practices to work this week! Listen to music that fills you with passion. Talk to people that make you feel inspired (and LISTEN to them) and seek out all things that give you inspiration! Dull, mindless activities will not serve your crown chakra.

Spending time outside is especially good this week, especially at higher ground where you can look out into a vast landscape. If not, just lying down and looking up at the stars at night can help tune your crown chakra. There’s something about your eyes looking into a field of far away things that changes your brain chemistry in a way and allowing your crown chakra to really shine bright. It STARTS as a violet color, but can develop into a magnificently bright white color with practice.

I like to meditate and visualize this bright glowing purple ball right at the top of my head, getting bigger and brighter with each inhale. Visualize all of this fresh, clean energy flowing to your crown, and with each exhale, purge all of the stagnant, stale, used energy. Picture every cell in your body vibrating and moving or releasing energy like carbonation in a soda. The mantra of the crown chakra is “OM” (same as the 3rd eye). Slowly chanting this, or humming the “NG” sound can liven up your crown chakra during meditation. Find the pitch that makes your crown chakra vibrate, and keep at it for 3-5 minutes.

When you’re done, exhale slowly and deeply, allowing all of the stored energy in your crown to swirl around our body, entering back up through the soles of your feet and naturally repeating the cycle. This flow of energy can be powerful when practiced, but try not to be attached to any thoughts or feelings. Just notice and continue on. Feel free to check in every so often and simply ask if your crown chakra needs anything. Listen, use discernment, and act on the wisdom you’ve received.

Using essential oils and incense, like frankensense, sandalwood, lotus, peppermint or lavender helps keep your awareness on your crown chakra, and using crystals such as amethyst, labradorite, moonstone, selenite and white topaz will help tune your crown chakra to the frequency necessary to expand and open your crown chakra.

Crown chakra week is a great time to mess with your thoughts a bit! Question your own beliefs and seek out new perspectives. Think about how the opposite of what you think to be true…may actually be true. Have a TRULY open mind about EVERYTHING. If you’re open to the fact that anything could be true, that openness thought pattern will help open your crown chakra. Distilling and expanding the mind is only possible if you have an open mind.

Foods! Ehh…turns out purple foods aren’t too common! If I had remembered, I would’ve grabbed some purple cabbage this week, but looks like I’ll be living on grapes, beets, eggplant and chia seeds. I’m sure I’m forgetting some, but a quick sweep at the grocery store was weak this time around. Not necessarily a bad thing though, as fasting is a HUGE tool to use especially during crown week! It can be purifying and powerfully transformative, and if you do fast at some point this week, make sure to prepare your body for a fast, check in during the fast, and carefully ween off of the fast. You’ll have some incredible mental clarity, but can be rudely disturbed if you go crazy on food right after.

My buddy, Ethan (shout out to the first friend I had in Austin!) took me to a Grateful Dead cover show (shred) this past weekend! Great music, great people, and it was in a pretty sweet coffee shop/hippie apothecary type place I hadn’t been to before. I got a couple of their tonics while I was there and felt AMAZING. So much so, I copied their menu and have been working my way down trying to recreate them at home. First on the menu was the “Adaptogenic”, which just happened to be purple of course! I’ll post the menu with ingredients in case any of you are funky drinkaholics like me. The one pictured below is great with the ingredients shown, but if you like ginger, I modified it with ginger beer and it was even better! And I didn’t have their special tinctures, so I added my own (shout out SamTheFungi for the hook up!)

One of the videos on the crown chakra (in the YouTube link below) has a short list of things to deny and release from the self to best align your heart chakra:

Human or worldly passions. Distractions and the many vices of the world.

Vain and useless things that don’t have a spiritual purpose in your life.

Attachment to hidden powers. If you have such powers, act humbly as if you do not have them.

Release yourself from your own self. Convince yourself that even though your internal God is very exalted and grandiose, you are nothing else but a shadow of your God. Never let pride take control. Never take credit for your spiritual advancements. Give thanks to your internal God

When I first started working with the chakras, my plan was to spend a week on each one and once everything is majestically aligned, continue on to some work with Kundalini. But as I’ve worked up the system in past years and (especially toward the end) strengthened my intuition, I’ve felt like Kundalini, for me anyway, is something that I need to be called upon when the time is right. I did get that call once a couple years ago and was on a path to learn a lot about the practice. I went to a few (VERY intense) Kundalini yoga classes, but the universe swept me away and I haven’t felt a pull to revisit it since. I’ll get back in it one day!

If your intent is to continue on to Kundalini, I would love to hear your progress! I’ve heard mentioned many times that it can be “dangerous”, and I do believe that is possible if you are not fully prepared with focused intent or don’t take it seriously. Like I said earlier, DO NOT FORCE anything! If energy is stuck somewhere or you don’t feel like your chakras are in alignment, do not force any energy movement. It should come naturally from that divine flow, you just have to cultivate the environment for this to happen.

I had a chance to go through the Pan Cyans that @CoyoteMyco sent me (the community appreciates you!!) and realized we have some really cool ones and more than I thought! Most of the supplies I make are what works best in MY environment. What is that you say? The dice rolls aren’t complicated enough? Say less! These dice rolls make sense to me and the folks that have been around for a while, but if you’re newer here or just curious how they work and I’m not explaining it well enough, feel free to reach out and I’ll try to simplify it for ya. There are currently two options that are vague…#8 on both the active $20 roll and gourmet $20 roll, mention “surprise goodies”. What the hell is even that? We just don’t know. But going forward, we’ll have a separate roll if you choose/roll one of these options. The “surprise goodies” will be determined by this extra roll. For example, if you roll a “1” on the separate roll for this option, you’ll likely have an “ahh, nice” reaction to the surprise goodies. If you roll an “8”, that reaction may be more of a “WHOOOOA DUDE HOLY MOSES!!!” with varying levels of goodies in between. Roll on my friends.

Quick note about giveaways on Discord: I love to accommodate anyone and everyone with these giveaways, but due to shipping cost and unreliability of getting through customs, these are currently for US addresses only. A 1lb box runs around $30 for shipping alone…5lb can be around $100, and some of these gives are heavier than that, running $200+ overseas, with high potential of getting stuck in customs and never actually arriving. If you order agar plates, quick changes in temps can sometimes cause condensation to form on the lids. Condensation is no problem, and will not affect the performance of the plate, but it’s still nice to have a clear view of what’s going on in there! I know for me, condensation is kind of annoying. If it’s cold in your area, consider bringing your order into the garage or similar area to gradually warm up before entering your loving home to help reduce the drippity droplets!
