I still can’t say we’ve hit Fall in TX quite yet with the forecast predicting temps in the 80’s for at least the next week, but I’ll take it! I also feel like an old man always talking about the weather, so I’m going to give it a rest until I’m allowed to complain about the cold. I hope everyone is having a beautiful day, week and life out there! The full moon last week was AMAZING and celestial bodies have been POPPIN’ lately! I always seem to miss the aurora borealis when it shows, but if anyone has any cool pics of the phenomenon, I’d love to see them!

This past week, I’ve had a few realizations and observations I’d like to share with the class! With this first one, I may be picking up on it more than I usually would just because it’s something I’ve been working on myself. Like when you buy a car and suddenly you start seeing that same make and model everywhere you go! They’re always there, you’re just more tuned to pick it up.

I’ve been working on taming the judging mind when I hear or see something that isn’t necessarily uplifting or encouraging. It’s so easy to meet someone new or overhear a conversation that just rubs you the wrong way, and immediately you think, “I don’t like that person”! You sort of write them off without getting to know them. Sometimes this is an intuitive thing, and I highly recommend following that intuition. But other times, maybe you’re just having an off day and aren’t super graceful toward others when perhaps they’re having an off day too. I know I’m guilty of that! And I know I’ve been that person too, who has probably struck someone the wrong way for one reason or another, they got turned off and that’s as far as our exchange goes.

What I’ve been trying to do when I see this behavior is to find ways to connect with that person. It’s tough! Tough to hear something you strongly disagree with and just move right along toward a commonality between you two. But if we are always quickly pushing someone away because we don’t see eye to eye, we’re keeping each other in our own echo chambers and eliminating the opportunity to learn from each other. For me personally, I’ve tried to stick around, find something that we both agree on, and stay away from the controversial topics that started the distaste in the first place. Conversation might swing back around to that topic, but with practice, you can find common ground and at least help each other see a different perspective.

In reflection, I’ve seen where I’ve shut down and just walked away from such situations. I continue about my business, unchanged by that individual, and they are likely unchanged by their interaction with me. We just didn’t vibe. Or even worse, you walk away and let their words or behavior rattle around in your head for the rest of the day, unable to make any changes but continually affecting you in a negative way. But if you can find the courage to stick it out for a little while and come together, you can see the light that is in both of you. With a decent level of awareness, a dash of vulnerability and an open heart, things just might turn around. Not always! But you never know unless you at least give them a chance. They might see how you act toward others and how your interactions brighten a room, and you see how people can change and your judgement dulls. Show them by example rather than resentment and disgust.

Circling back to intuition on that last thought…follow that feeling! I’ve noticed when I get out of touch with intuition and begin cultivating it again, it starts off small. And it should! How can you trust your intuition on the mega important things in your life if you ignore the small ones? I believe the universe or whatever higher power you believe in send slight hints to nudge you in a certain direction when you’re on a certain path, and the more you tune into that, the stronger and bigger they get. If you ignore the small ones and don’t listen, you probably won’t be rewarded with a more powerful sense of intuition.

I heard on a podcast this past week that one way of being able to differentiate intuition with desire or attachment is the feeling of uncomfortability. This takes time, effort and practice to feel what it really is, but in general, if you’re getting a feeling that more resembles a fantasy, it may not be true intuition speaking to you, but you’re more or less daydreaming about something you want. If you’re being nudged to paticipate in something you don’t necessarily want to do or is difficult for one reason or another, or seems somewhat random without coming from your own motive, try it out every once in a while and see what happens. I know when I’ve gotten into these phases, they’ve strengthened to the point of frequent synchronicities, and before too long, you can look back and see the purpose of it all. It’s usually pretty friggin beautiful, and the trust in yourself and your intuition is heightened.

On the topic of keeping that momentum going, I’ve noticed writing things down helps tremendously! I tend to stay away from writing down synchronicity type stuff because deep down inside it feels like attachment, but that’s just something personal I’m working on. But this works for business ideas, ways to communicate a difficult concept or smooth out conflict, talking points for an upcoming presentation (or if you do a makeshift blog type thing on Wednesdays), joke writing, and everything in between. Plus it helps with your memory a TON! When I’m consistently writing things down and adding to them, it keeps that brain muscle working, you can build on the idea much easier, and the end result is exponentially better.
