I hope everyone had an eggcelent Easter Sunday/Ostara/420 weekend! In the spirit of the holidaze, @UnderdogArtisan shared a few pics of her majestical Fabergé eggs that I nominate to be used in the next heist movie with Jason Statham. 20th Century Fox holla at yo girl!

Also in the spirit of Easter, I’d like to wish Pope Francis a smooth and peaceful transition to the other side. RIP buddy. I didn’t know him *personally*, but he sent me this so I think we’re pretty close.

I think he was just asking for money at the time, but the fact that he invoked an abundance of divine graces goes a long way. It’s been on my fridge for a few years now, but I’m thinking about getting it framed.

This past week, I had but one mission on the brain- read a book on the sunny hill about a mile from mi casa. The small and simple things seem to give me the most joy. I used to bike down to a park, lay out on a blanket and just get lost in a book while occasionally being visited by a friendly puppers. It was freeing and fulfilling, and for some reason I stopped doing that! The one day I planned to go to the hill, it was cloud city with 40mph winds (wtf!?) so I had to postpone it.

The next day, mission accomplished. As I was on my way to this glorious hill, I was thinking about how I also used to make it part of my park/read routine to make someone’s day who I had never met before. Maybe not really make their whole day, but at least give them a reason to smile. Something as simple as complimenting their shirt or saying “You look great today!”, or just striking up a nice conversation with someone who looks bored at their job. Whatever it may be, just make someone feel good about themselves by feeling good about them. That faded away too! But just as I got lost in this thought, a song came on my shuffle machine by Tobyraps called “Giving Alms”. I think I’ve mentioned it before, months back, but I’ll include the lyrics at the end of the post here because it just hit home so freakin hard. One of those times the universe says, “HE’S LISTENING! HIT IT!” and boy did it hit. I’m not sure if my brainwaves triggered that song or skipped a beat into the future and downloaded the song’s content before it was heard…or perhaps just a random coincidence….either way, that was cool.

Whenever this thought crossed my mind while I was out and about, I’d try to give a very intentional, authentic, from the heart compliment to some stranger I ran into, and each time it just elevated my whole day (and hopefully theirs!). On the way back from le hill, I took the scenic route and stumbled on this gem of a person, spreading the mycelium and making a lot of people’s days…certainly mine! In case you didn’t know, you can get multiple flushes from your gourmet blocks, and when they’re “spent”, you can work them into your soil for a fantastic mycorrhizal relationship with the plants! Shout out Central Texas Mycological Society for this amazing program!

Aside from the strangers part of making someone’s day, I think it’s especially important to appreciate and get hyped up about any and all good news a friend has to share as well. Gas up your peeps, peeps! I’ve had a number of people close to me recently share about work accomplishments, milestones for quitting drinking or other vice cessation, celebrating moving into their own space, etc. and something free and easy to do to keep that momentum going for them is to cheer on those accomplishments! Even if it has nothing to do with you or maybe even has no interest to you. I’m not saying be fake about it, but rejoice with them in the most genuine, loving way, and you’ll both feel uplifted and inspired. May of these moments have come from personal convos on Discord, so I won’t name names or private instances, but you all have been freakin rockin at life lately and I love it <3 Share that good news far and wide!! You want to live in a world of kind people and compliments? Be a kind person and give compliments. Prove me wrong.

On the contrast, if someone is going through some shite, be with them. Don’t be quick to offer solutions or already be thinking of how to help….most of the time the best thing you can do to help is just be there in whole and provide empathy for what they’re going through. When things get tough, it’s not easy to keep a positive mindset, but just know that whatever is happening around you was meant to be in one way or another. However cruel or mean it may seem, this is truly the unavoidable order of things! It’s all divine. Embrace it, take however much time you need to collect yourself, and ask your heart how you should proceed.

And if you and your partner or friend or family member are in a conflict of some kind together, take a step back and breathe before reacting. Know that the other person is not the conflict! There’s you….there’s them…there’s the conflict. When you get fired up with someone you love, remind yourself that the enemy in the situation is the conflict…not them. Work together to resolve whatever it is that’s giving you trouble without assessing blame or pointing fingers. Realize that you’re both in this together and can create better, more effective solutions if you are both working against the conflict, rather than the conflict separating that bond. There’s NOTHING that can stop you from spreading love, encouraging everyone around you and getting through whatever hardship you’re facing today. You are loved, you are appreciated and you are valued for just being uniquely you. Keep on rockin you beautiful soul <3
