My dearly beloved, I’ve been on a bit of a diabetic rollercoaster today causing a bit of a mental/writers block (gotta blame something), so this week isn’t going to be too exciting. Damn pancreas! Happens to the best of us…

I’m always talking about lessons and how they present themselves in unusual ways sometimes. All too often, when I speak about something, I’m tested in that same way to see if I practice what I preach, and I think today was one of those interesting lessons. I had “patience” on my mind as a theme for today, yet when I woke up with hella low blood sugar, instead of taking a spoonful of honey and being patient, I devoured every sugary morsel I had in the pantry, leading to high blood sugar and repeating the cycle. 30 years being allergic to sugar…you think I’d learn. Wouldn’t be surprised if next week’s theme was “blame”…

Thanks to our barefoot chainsaw man, @TarkilnForager and the Tarkiln Art Department, we will soon have a special Spring edition of agar punches to share! These folks are always creatively looking for ways to make this hobby more fun, and on behalf of the entire community here, we appreciate you!

For those of you who don’t know what these little tools are for, and to quote mr. barefoot chainsaw man, “think cookie cutter”. These are for cutting a piece of a colonized agar plate to transfer to a new plate to continue growing and refining the genetics. Normally, you would take a small piece of the colonized plate and gently place it on a fresh plate. Some use a scalpel or xacto knife to cut a small wedge, and now we have some cool shapes to make it more fun and creative 🙂

Speaking of the Discord crew, welcome back @ed and @Genesis (you ROCK) from a short break! Bleepity bloop, we missed you. These are two of our more outspoken members who always make the community more fun and alive. We appreciate all of your contributions as we continue to learn from each other!

In unrelated, and probably unnoticed news, I’ve had to change up some of the supplies I’ve been using for approximately forever. My syringe supplier of 5+ years is no longer carrying the syringes I love oh so much. You might not notice, but they are slightly different. Still great quality and all work just the same. I was going to my local HEB for alcohol pads to send with the little goodie bags, but those have been out of stock for a couple months now, so those will look a little different as well. My needles were out of stock temporarily and I had to go with the 1″ needles vs the 1.5″ I was used to (no biggie there). I value a very uniform look to orders, and having a few things like this that are mis-matched kinda irks me (I’ll get over it), but just wanted to let you know I’m not seeking out cheaper supplies or anything (these are NOT cheaper!), things are just a little whacky right now. I’m sure when everything gets uniform with the new supplies, my old ones will come back in stock. This is life.

One change that I am making all on my very own is to include injection ports with ALL of my grain bags going forward. In the past, I was only including these with the all-in-one bags, but for whatever reason, I’ve had a lot of people asking about why my grain bags didn’t have them as well. The people have spoken! I personally do not use injection ports. If I’m using a syringe, I just jab through the bag and tape over the hole, but now you have a nice target to stab for peace of mind. If you have no use for injection ports, please add a note with your order and I’ll leave them off.

Better health and spirits next week! Actually, my spirits are just fine. Better health and mental clarity, though! And a couple cool new guys to add to the library.
