Dearly beloved myco fam, what is good!!!

Welcome to another edition of your mom’s favorite rambles, featuring the SACRAL chakra! In case you’re new around these parts, this is the second of seven chakras I’ll be focusing on for the next month or so. In the past, I’ve been super diligent with this process….one might even say strict. And that’s exactly what I needed at the time. Magic ensued and ’twas amazing. This go around, I’m a little more lax with things. Still committed to this healthy routine, but giving grace and being a little more chill about this stuff. And that seems to be what I need now…more of a half structured flow. I got REEEAAAAL friggin serious about a lot of things back in October/November for no reason at all and when I found balance and got grounded, I realized that was very very silly and life is too serious to be taken seriously. So here we are! Thanks for following along on my journey of lifeness.

As with all the words, take it or leave it, but if you find you need balanced in one area or another, I highly recommend to try out some of these techniques and hit me up if you’d like to discuss more in depth.

The “non-western” name for the sacral chakra is Svadhisthana, meaning “where your being is established”. This second chakra is responsible for emotions, creativity and sexual/reproductive activities (oooh la la!). It is located just below your umbilical cord socket and is associated with a nice creamy orange color. As always, I love the color focus of these chakras, so I’m incorporating as much orange into my life as possible this week…oranges, orange peppers, cantaloupe, carrots….you get the gist. Orange lights all over the casa, and for some added woo, orange crystals like amber, carnelian, and orange tourmaline intentionally placed around my puja or placed on the sacral chakra during meditation. Scents of ylang ylang, lemon and sandalwood essential oils help bring awareness to the sacral chakra to deepen your focus and just smell lovely.

The element of the sacral chakra is water, so make sure your innards are lubed up! Though I am no meat head, I have been trying to drink a gallon of water a day lately and it’s had a profound effect on my sleep and energy throughout the day. Whenever I take a chug, or see orange out and about (orange traffic lights, business signs, etc), I take a slow deep breath with this chakra in mind. Do you see the color of this text!? BREATHE! Aaaahhh…better.

When the sacral chakra is out of harmony, we have difficulty expressing our feelings or feel shut down. Our creativity is lacking and we may feel frustrated that we aren’t able to use that gift. We may feel inadequate or feel unstable about our sexuality. We may also have issues around money and abundance- either being too attached on obtaining material goods or not owning our abundance at all. We may feel guilt to push blame on others or have issues with power and control.

But when the sacral is balanced, magic happens! We are in the ultimate flow of our creativity and express feelings in healthy ways. We maintain healthy, fulfilling relationships and are connected to the emotional aspects of our sexuality. The mantra “I feel” is a good tool to use during meditation, either by simply repeating “I feel”, or finishing that sentence with what naturally comes to mind. I feel healthy. I feel successful. I feel FEELINGS! Let them come…let them go. Notice them, but don’t be attached. This simple mindfulness practice can carry you through the day in a much less reactionary state leading to a more fulfilled life of peace and balance.

I’ve made a SACRAL CHAKRA PLAYLIST on the Tube of You so you can follow along if you wish. There are a handful of short guided yoga videos that focus on the sacral chakra, a guided meditation, and some singing bowl frequencies tuned to the sacral chakra that you can use in meditation or to have on in the background.

Short diversion about frequencies and sound- I came across THIS VIDEO the other day displaying the effects of cymatics (sound/vibration made visible) and it’s pretty friggin amazing. If this is how vibrations affect sand, water, fire and electricity, it absolutely must do something to our own chemistry.

Get out there and be the badass sexy self you know you are! Sing, dance, wear what makes you feel delicious and express yourself to the fullest extent of the law. Actually, screw the law. Make it your mission this week to be so damn fine and creative that you actually get arrested for it. And eat some juicy orange fruits all the way to jail.

This week, we have an incredible variety heading BACK to the shop after a long break. This has held a consistent spot in my top 5 varieties of all time since I had the pleasure of working with it a few years ago, and I haven’t met a single soul that would disagree. My entire friend group is crazy about this one, the Discordians rave about it, and thanks to a nudge from @g-Cbus, it’s back in stock. Ladies and gentleman, please put your caps and stems together for the great JACK FROST!!! As with all true albino varieties (translucent spores), these are available in swab packs only.

As we phase out the MWMycology site in The Great Transition of ’25, a few changes are being made! First, prices of agar plates have dropped by a few doll hairs! Woot! And the old prices have hopped over to a new agar item: Chipotle style agar plates, or Chipotlagar for short. These are CUSTOM agar plates, made with just the right ratios of agar, sugars and add-ins for your project. This is a fantastic way to experiment with your own recipe, or copy/pasta a recipe you found online. Made to order and always made with love, you’re able to go down the line and choose the mix that suits your needs.

Start with your base: Distilled water, potato broth, milo/sorghum grain soak water, or naturally collected rainwater straight from God’s teet. Add your mains (sugars/nutrients) from LME, sorghum syrup, honey, corn syrup, and dextrose & finish off with some excellent nutrients- brewer’s yeast, nutritional yeast, and peptones for extra add-ins. Just let me know which ingredients you prefer and I’ll handle the recipe, unless you had specific ratios you’d like me to use. Just add a note with your order and I shall be to work!

And yet another update to the shop this week- a new grain to choose from!! I’ve been working with Millet for a while now and I must say I am quite keen on the little buggers. Is it 10 times more of a pain in the arse to prepare? AT LEAST! Is it more expensive? Just a tad…though I’m not passing that expense on to you because I’m pretty rad (horn tooted). Is it worth it? Helllls yeah. Mycelium loves the suuuper high nutrient profile of these grains and they’re significantly smaller than the Milo I’ve been using, giving an incredible amount of inoculation points and quicker colonization of substrate. Milo is still awesome as well and I continue using it on the regular, but I always like experimenting with new processes and this one doesn’t disappoint. I’ve worked with oats, corn, rye berries, rice, milo and millet and these two are my hands down favorites. Get yer MILLET GRAINS HERE and peep these sexy Millet AIO bags HERE

SHIPPING UPDATE: Most services have thankfully calmed down after the holidays, with the exception of my mail pickup being skipped yesterday! I pride myself in getting orders out same/next day at the latest, but if you got a tracking email yesterday, that was a straight up bold faced LIE. I apologize. All of yesterday and today’s orders have already been shipped, guaranteed without a doubt as I supremely handed them to the mail duder myself (thank you mail duder). ALSO, mail services are NOT running tomorrow 1/9 due to a National Day of Remembrance for Jimmy Carter. I had no idea we did such a thing. For most orders including supplies, shipping will be the same rate up to 5 lbs, and the rate from 5-20 lbs also remains the same. So if you already have 5+ lbs of items in your cart, you can go up to 20 without having to pay any additional shipping!

Just to reiterate, HEAT PACKS have been added to the shop for the frigid areas! Recommended for areas that are in the mid-20’s or colder.
