Wyco Wednesday December 4

BLEEP BLOOPS IN BLACK, COUPONS/GIVES IN RED, UPDATES/NEW IN BLUE

My dearly beloved!

I feel like it’s been much longer than a week since we met up here at the ol Wyco water cooler, and it’s only been since Friday! I guess a lot has happened in the past week…all good things! Between Wyco Wednesday, Thanksgiving, the Black Friday shindig, and a few personal happenings, I’ve stayed pleeenty busy in and out of the lab.

I’ve been in a really good groove lately because I’ve been diligent about following “work” rules. It’s not really work…but things pertaining to the spore gig. I have to find a new word for it, but I know I can’t be saying “I have some pleasure to do today” or “I don’t work, I play”…in public anyway. Whatever it is, I look forward to the things I get to do each day and I’m incredibly grateful to be in such a position. BUT THE RUUULLES! Not really rules I guess. I don’t have a fixed schedule. I’ve tried to so many times and it seems like whenever I try to put something in a time slot, it guarantees something else will come up. That’s just nature, really. Don’t force anything, we’re on their clock. I do have a constant running list of things that need to be done, listed by wants and needs, ordered by priority, and the only constant on that list is that everything will change. But if I stick to a few “rules” for myself on how to not overload my plate, get behind with certain processes, and responsibly start projects, things go much smoother, I’m more efficient with my time, and energy can be put to use in more productive and fulfilling ways.

I set out with this system probably a year ago, maybe a little less. I’d break up my “work” processes into 10(ish) categories or titles. With this type of hobby, as most of you know, things can never actually be “done”. That really just doesn’t quite exist. There’s always some further step you can do with what you have and that is (and should be) a never ending process if you truly love it. I would look at each of these 10 items, and see where each had needs at the moment. I was used to just going with my gut and tackling the process that made the most sense at the time, which is a sporadic and fun way to go about things, and still works. But to find a good work/life balance, I needed to find out where I needed to slow down to get into this flow that I’m currently in. I ranked the 10 items in a seemingly random way, but a way that made the most sense to me. I “completed” #1 on the list, to it’s fullest extent anyway, and focused on the next item…maybe that day, maybe as a goal for the next week depending on how involved it was. And as I worked down the list, I would never start on the next number until everything from the previous numbers were caught up completely. I realized some of the items that were lower on the list may get behind more than my sporadic system, and that was a consideration when I ranked the list, but eventually I would have a much better system where I could figure out what all I could take on while still being able to take a hike or go out on the lake on occasion.

This style of progression led into my morning routine. I always have phases where I’m very consistent with a healthy routine and get on a niiiice streak, then completely fall off. And still to this day, sometimes I skip my whole routine when I have no time restraints or any other reasonable excuse! No reason at all, just choose to get wrapped up in the day before taking a mindful relaxing beginning. Why is that? If it feels so good, so right to be on a certain discipline or healthy habit, why is it so easy to stop altogether or find pleasure in the opposite of that practice? Or is the difficulty of sticking with something the very reason why the reward is so satisfying. It’s at least part of it. Anywhooo….when I stopped looking at my routine as a whole unit, and in a way, “ranked” certain items based on priority, it made it easier to revisit one or two parts of my routine even after I got distracted earlier or had some obligation. Just like the work list, I would choose a couple of the most important practices and make sure to start my day with those. I wouldn’t always make it through all 10 things, but I knew for damn sure I was in tune with at least a couple of the most important ones. Even if it’s starting your day with a tall glass of water or stretching with gratitude. Something small really can be the momentum to get an entire beautiful day rolling in the right direction, and you can continue to build from there.

I did not mean to go on about all that, but here we are (I have no “short winded” way of saying things). I mentioned a few weeks ago that I was trying to find this groove thing and that was my early resolution….something I wanted to have in a decent natural flow by the time the new year rolls around. I’ve been hanging around #8 on the work stuffs and closer to the middle on the routine, but I think it’s a nice and easy progression that doesn’t feel in any way difficult or forced or rushed. When this happens, it allows you to experience synchronicities, make new connections and see things with a fresh perspective and guidance on your path.

All that to say, things are looking good for fine tuning things for the next month and there should be some cool upgrades and new releases at the beginning of the year. I’m pretty sure I say that every year, but these are actually realistic, non-overloaded goals that I feel deep in my caps and stems will come to fruition. Some exciting things right around the corner!

Before you are dismissed, I just want to let you know I write these comments on routine, life hacks that come to me in the shower, etc. just to update you (and me) on what’s been going on lately and what I’m excited about. My balance system is a work in progress, for my being. You’re totally different and have a different recipe for what works. I love hearing the little things that help you be the best you, and if you don’t mind sharing, I’m all ears (eyes?). But I’m not trying to say this is the way, or that you should always be trying to optimize your soul and yadda yadda. These are just things I enjoy working on. As long as you’re full of joy…as long as you are passionate and spread love and kindness to others…whatever that recipe is for you, keep on keepin’ on. Don’t be hard on yourself about whatever it is you’re hard on yourself about. DoN’t TaKe LiFe ToO sErIoUsLy. LOVE YOURSELF! For the love of God, love yourself and don’t be afraid to ask for help sometimes. You are loved and I’m glad you’re here <3

TRUTH WAITS FOR EYES UNCLOUDED BY LONGING -The Tao

Today just happens to be “National Dice Day” believe it or not! We’ve had a ton of fun with these dice rolls and bonus slot spins lately, and I want to make a couple changes for Wyco Wednesday specialness. First, ON WEDNESDAYS ONLY, we’ll continue the ROLL 3, PICK 2 promo we did on Black Friday. Buy 2 rolls of the same tier and get 3 separate rolls where you can pick your top two prizes! Also continuing from Black Friday, on Wednesday’s only, we’ll have the LUCKY NUMBER upgrade. Today’s number (Dec 4th) is 4. If you roll a 4, you’ll receive that prize and get a re-roll for an additional prize! This applies to the first roll only if you’re doing the roll 3 pick 2. The bonus JACKPOT SPIN will remain a fun addition on ALL days, but only for the $35 roll going forward. (Roll 3 pick 2 will get two spins)

Keep in mind, once the die hath spoken, that is what you shall receive! There are no special requests or substitutions here. ALSO- shipping is included with all of these items, so instead of having to pay $10+ shipping on a couple substrate bags, you can grab them with free shipping if the dice roll your way 🙂 Click on the die to skirt over to that item in the shop!

The first 20 orders will receive a free “unlisted” spore syringe not available in the shop! This one is not brand new on the Wednesday gives, so if you have one already and want something else unique, just let me know. I’ve always liked the unique varieties and take a liking to the red/rust colored spores, however I’m not a huge fan of original Rusty Whyte or Red Boy. I love PF Redspore, and that was my go to UNTIL I was able to work with this Jedi Mind Fuck x Rusty Whyte hybrid. This week’s special spore is the REDSPORE variant of the JMFxRW cross, and takes the best of both worlds to make this beautiful love fungus <3

All order numbers ending in “0” on 12/4 will get a $50 credit good for grains, substrate, agar and gourmet cultures at millywycomycology.com! (separate site) Coupon code sent with order.

All order numbers ending in a 1, 2 or 4 on 12/4 will receive a surprise from my goodie bag with their order! This could be a spore print, pack of swabs, special Natalensis syringe, lucky roll of the dice…you don’t know it yet but it’ll be good!
