Happy Winter Solstice week everyone!!

I hope everyone is staying warm out there! I was talking to some friends back in Ohio a few days ago and they were telling me it was 6 degrees outside and they just got dumped on with snow! If Austin gets so much as a dusting of snow, the whole city shuts down. Still looking at high 70’s all through next week!

As our fellow festive Austin neighbors are decorating for Christmas, so are the deer apparently! I thought I heard an animal scurry right outside my door the other day, and upon further investigation it was one of Santa’s actual reindeer! This guy had lights, ornaments, and I’m pretty sure a whole wreath on his antlers just getting into the holiday spirit! I tried to use my deerspeak skills to let me help him out but he insisted on keeping the bling and pranced away. I left a bowl of milo and millet scraps out for him if he decides to come back. It’s the reindeer’s version of milk and cookies.

I was talking to a couple other friends this past week, and at some point, we got on the topic of challenges and struggles when trying to do the right thing. These were separate conversations with writers, podcasters, spore spreaders (halooo) and the like, all doing something they are passionate about, making a positive impact on their community or the world at large.

You could chalk it up to coincidence, but we all found similarities in “things” happening right around the time you plan to project some good out into the ether. These “things” could be personal issues coming out of nowhere, medical/health or mental challenges, outside forces up to no good, or any form of “attack” that you have to watch out for and fend off to protect yourself.

For example, I couldn’t tell you how many times everything is going smoothly right up until I do my Wednesday thing, when suddenly my blood sugar crashes out of nowhere! When that happens, I know how to handle it and it’s no big deal to raise my blood sugar a bit and get back on track, but when it takes a couple hours to do that and it’s 3:30…uh oh! And that will likely be the only time all week where my blood sugar drops. Sometimes my internet goes out or my laptop is on the fritz….almost always mid day on Wednesdays.

Sometimes things just happen, and they happen at seemingly the most inconvenient times. I think it’s important to use discernment and intuition to follow your heart on whether that is truly what you are meant to do. If all signs are pointing you away from whatever you’re about to do, maybe take a step back and consider your actions a bit. But sometimes you might be on the right track, doing just the right thing, right where you’re supposed to be. And when you’re aligned with that goal, these “things” may pop up out of nowhere and try to test your ability and perseverance.

If you know in your heart of hearts that you are on the right path, doing good and spreading positivity, don’t let those “things”, no matter how insignificant or earth shattering as they may be, get you down. Find a way to laugh at the “of course this would happen right now” moments and not be discouraged. If your mission is to do good, provide joy in any way, or help others selflessly, don’t be surprised if there are some hurdles to jump over, hoops to jump through and perhaps some lasers you need to dodge. And if/when they show themselves, you’ll be more prepared to handle these shenanigans and is almost like a confirmation you’re doing the right thing. Doing good takes more work and this just has to be built into the time and effort you put into that project. But it’s absolutely worth the battles we face from time to time. Don’t give in and let those meddling goobers foil your plot! Keep spreading the kindness, keep being generous and keep being your perfect loving awareness self I know you are. Love will always prevail <3

Not brand new to the shop, but we have a couple returning favorites coming back this week! JACK FROST swabs are back just in time for Christmas!! Jack Frost has been a favorite among my friend groups and I’m not sure if I’ve ever heard of someone not having an amazing time with these. One of my favorites all around! THAI PINK BUFFALO is also making a comeback! Very nice study from start to finish with these. Jack Frost is something I typically only give to peeps who request swabs, since it’s only available in swabs, but TPB is commonly included in the “Milly’s Favorite Cubes” bundle, and has been for years. Sorry to have let this one go dark for a while!

All orders placed on Weds 12/17 will ship out on Friday 12/19! I’m giving a crash course on agar and sharing some mycoknowledge with a buddy here tomorrow! We’re both pretty excited and I’m not sure how long we’ll be visiting, so I don’t want to have the expectation to ship tomorrow if we’re in a good flow. All will ship on Friday though unless you hear from me directly!

A couple weeks ago, I made a few changes to the dice rolls! I removed the few gourmet options from the prize list and made a separate roll table for gourmet stuffs only. The regular 10/20/35 rolls will be for actives only, or supplies and such that go with anything, but mainly for the active seeker. The gourmet only roll table is for a $20 roll and can be requested by adding a note to your order of the $20 roll, saying “For gourmet”. Since this is a new option, give me some grace! I inoculated a ton of grains and spawned a handful of fruiting blocks last week to get them rolling, but if your roll lands on something “fully colonized”, your preferred choice may not be 100% ready quite yet. If that’s the case, I’ll reach out with updates on when to expect shipment. And speaking of grace…I believe I misread my own chicken scratch and sent someone 4 colonized agar plates instead of the “10 pack of agar plates + surprise goodies” they should’ve received. For the life of me, I don’t know who that was soooo if you’re reading this, hit me up and I’m sorry!

Shipping is going as well as it can at the moment with the typical USPS struggles, but we’re in the middle of the busiest shipping time of the year, so expect to see some delays! So far, packages have been scanning in when they hit the main hub here in Austin (despite being scanned at pickup), but the past few I checked on are showing a delivery date of 5-7 days out, up from the usual 3-5.

Black Boxes! They are back indeed! I really take my time putting these together, so please allow an extra couple/few days to ship! If you’re in a hustle, I can totally whip up some goodies and ship it PRONTO! Just add a note at checkout so I know you’re not the waiting type. Nothin’ wrong with that! Also, this is something that goes away from time to time. I expect to have them available at least through Christmas, but if I get slammed with BB orders and feel like I’m rushing things, I’ll temporarily take them down until I’m caught up.

Patience my friends! Orders for supplies, like grains, substrate and agar, have been on the rise lately. That’s awesome and thank you!!! These are also the most time consuming processes. Supply orders typically ship out on Tuesdays and Fridays so you get the freshest batch possible, but if I end up with a short backlog of supply orders, I’ll email you to let you know when your order will ship. Unless things get really crazy, it should only be a 1 day delay, if any.
