Good day, mycelial members of the magical mycoverse!

It’s absolutely GORGEOUS out there today! And in here! Everywhere! I hope you all are having a stunningly awesome start to your December so far!

The past couple weeks have been chilly over here! I wouldn’t dare say “cold” when I see what the weather is like back in my homeland, but for Austin it was a bit nipply out there. I didn’t notice at the time, but I fell off my routine to get out and take walks around the neighborhood, hike and bike and do all the outside, sunshine, fresh air stuffs that make all my cells happy. I’m just not terribly motivated to get out if I have to bundle up first. But for as little as I’d have to do that I just need to suck it up and do it! I’m not sure if omitting sun time was the sole cause or perhaps just one domino, but I was a bit of a grumpy gills for a week or so! Gahh…the things we have to deal with in these meatsuits. Grumps! And I was one of them.

I’m also not sure if the outsideness is really what snapped the funk. Nor am I saying the funk is snapped! I mean I know it is for now. Life is frickin good, dude. But I’m sure it’ll be back in some form for one reason or another. That’s just being human. What an amazing experience in all of its forms! In reflection of the funk snapper 3000, there were a couple of other things I changed or added to my day. Writing it out helps me remember for the next time the funk monster tries to shit in my Cheerios and hopefully you can take something from it too.

One thing that always seems to pop that grumpy funk BOOM POW right in the kisser, is gratitude. Bad juju…bad vibes….a good ol case of the funkadelic Rex….they don’t stand a chance against genuine gratitude. They want to keep you focused on what’s “wrong”. Keep your attention on the problem. No problem? We’ll find one! But when you shift focus to something you’re thankful for in your life, imagine it or visualize it if it’s not around, you’re starving those demons that are trying to control your attitude. I used to do this all the time and like everything else…not really sure why I stopped. Before I begin another task, activity, or whatever is going down in the sporecaster’s lair, I take a deep breath in and say “THANK YOU”, hold it for a second and on the exhale, say “I LOVE YOU”. It’s usually toward the action that I’m about to perform, but sometimes another thing, situation or person enters my head and I direct my energy toward that. Taking a drink of water? Infuse that crisp nourishing H2O with all of your love and gratitude. Thinking about your mom or an old friend in that moment? Project some intense love beams from your heart center toward that person. Bonus points if you call or text them and let them know you’re thinking about them! But even if you don’t, I do believe we are all connected in ways we can’t fathom, and those little love blasts can actually be felt by the receiver.

I found myself on autopilot there for a while, just GO GO GO!! Finishing this, knowing I have to do that next, then the next thing. Sing and dance along the way, still enjoying every moment, but lacking that absolute focused intention on what I’m doing. That simple “thank you/I love you” breath adds a nice reset from what I was doing to what I’m about to do and changes the energy put into it. If I feel rushed, I push back a bit, take a longer breath and focus on grounding. And if I feel a judging mind creeping in from one of those funk grumps, I try to remember to loosen up and not take myself so seriously. I laugh at that judgement sometimes because that’s not even me! I’m pure love. I give myself grace. Life is to be enjoyed. If that judging voice keeps getting louder trying to wake up the grump boss himself, just breathe in that pure love, the grace, the positive, refreshing, new energy, and exhale that sad stale little pipsqueak that thinks he’s boss. You have the love. You have the power. You have control. That thing is no match for you.

Another thing I noticed in my grumpy era was that just about everyone I ran into out in the wild was also grumpy! Equally or worse! What an insane coincidence that right when I’m at peak grump, so is everyone else! Just wild. Of course it had nothing to do with me, that’s just nonsense! Yeah….I was just looking in the mirror, seeing the outside world reflecting back at myself. Silly grumpy me! I had a talk with a close friend about this grumptropolis I found myself in, and he reminded me of something he does out and about…something I used to do too, but big surprise…stopped for no apparent reason! He takes those little pop open positivity cards and leaves them on community boards or here or there where people can see them and brightens their day! He had just recently sent me a jar of positivity pickles too! I felt like I just found a key to a door I’ve been wanting to open. On a mission, I went about my day with a pocket full of pickles, lively and pure at heart, just trying to find a grump to convert and low and behold….no grumps in sight. My hunt a grump expedition was a failure. (nice) When I finally called it quits, supremely satisfied with my observations, I had a realization. When I’ve taken a small microdizzle and ventured out, I’ll often look at someone and think “that may just be the most beautiful person I’ve ever seen”. Then I’ll look to my right and think “wait no, THAT is the most beautiful person” until I do a 360 and THEY’RE FREAKIN EVERYWHERE! All different, unique, absolutely gorgeous people all around me! And so weird that when I have my grumpy face on, everyone around me is grumpy. It’s all about perspective. Could you just grab a little MD and see the world differently? Yeeeep, ain’t nothin’ wrong with that! Could you also just change your perspective? Yeah bud! Did I just say the same thing twice? Anywhoo…Be the change you want to see! If you’re entering a grumpy phase yourself, it’s ok. Everything will be fine. You’re not broken…you’re human. And just like my amazing friends in this stellar community and friends outside the community helped shake the funk out of me, I and we are all here for you too. We all help each other out, and I’m fortunate enough to see firsthand the impact of the butterfly effect when one of you sends much needed love and encouragement to our fellow mycofriends. The mycelial web is strong with this community! We’ve had a good number of people sending gifts here and there, donating a starter pack to someone in need, and sending me creations to pass along to the squad. I absorb the love that is being passed around and I thank all of you from the bottom of my heart for being able to share this experience with you. You all rock so hard!!

UPDATES:

Last week I made a few changes to the dice rolls! I removed the few gourmet options from the prize list and made a separate roll table for gourmet stuffs only. The regular 10/20/35 rolls will be for actives only, or supplies and such that go with anything, but mainly for the active seeker. The gourmet only roll table is for a $20 roll and can be requested by adding a note to your order of the $20 roll, saying “For gourmet”. Since this is a new option, give me some grace! I inoculated a ton of grains and spawned a handful of fruiting blocks last week to get them rolling, but if your roll lands on something “fully colonized”, your preferred choice may not be 100% ready quite yet. If that’s the case, I’ll reach out with updates on when to expect shipment. And speaking of grace…I believe I misread my own chicken scratch and sent someone 4 colonized agar plates instead of the “10 pack of agar plates + surprise goodies” they should’ve received. For the life of me, I don’t know who that was soooo if you’re reading this, hit me up and I’m sorry!

Shipping is going as well as it can at the moment with the typical USPS struggles, but we’re heading into the busiest shipping time of the year, so expect to see some delays! So far, packages have been scanning in when they hit the main hub here in Austin (despite being scanned at pickup), but the past few I checked on are showing a delivery date of 5-7 days out, up from the usual 3-5.

Black Boxes! They are back indeed! I really take my time putting these together, so please allow an extra couple/few days to ship! If you’re in a hustle, I can totally whip up some goodies and ship it PRONTO! Just add a note at checkout so I know you’re not the waiting type. Nothin’ wrong with that! Also, this is something that goes away from time to time. I expect to have them available at least through this week and next, but if I get slammed with BB orders and feel like I’m rushing things, I’ll temporarily take them down until I’m caught up.

Tidalwave has been removed from the shop for now, as we may have a recall on that one. Someone mentioned they had issues with it last week, despite my tests coming back good from that batch. A second fella shared similar concerns, so I’m doing a little more digging to figure it out and make sure everything is imaculate before adding them back to the shop. Send me a message on Discord or an email if you have any info about this one, especially if you got a Tidalwave recently that didn’t work out! I’ll make it right with ya!

Patience my friends! Orders for supplies, like grains, substrate and agar, have been on the rise lately. That’s awesome and thank you!!! These are also the most time consuming processes. Supply orders typically ship out on Tuesdays and Fridays so you get the freshest batch possible, but if I end up with a short backlog of supply orders, I’ll email you to let you know when your order will ship. Unless things get really crazy, it should only be a 1 day delay, if any.
