First off, I want to wish a magnificent happy birthday to the one and only @LeviathansKeeper! This man has maintained immaculate vibes since day one and I’m incredibly thankful to be able to say he’s one of my very best friends. Anyone on the Discord knows he is always kind, super helpful in any way possible and just brings up the energy in any space he enters. So glad to have you here sharing this space with us. You’re a true homie my dood, I love you!

The man, the myth, the legend is also one of our fantastic mods in the MW Discord that is close to hitting 1,000 members!! Big shout out to ALL the mods over there helping out as I’ve been busy doing wizard things the past couple weeks. There might just be a thing or two up my sleeve to celebrate when we hit 1k, or perhaps the Wednesday following the achievement. Thanks to everyone sticking around, hanging out and making this a special place we can all enjoy!

I’ve gotten back into the groove of my grounding and gratefulness practice this past week! Every once in a while, I’ll share a part of my routine that I’m adding back, completely flabbergasted at why I stopped doing it, and this is one of them. In the chaos of the world, sometimes it’s nice to just be in silence and think of things to be grateful for.

I’ll start with what is in my visual field at that time. Sometimes I’m sitting on the couch, sometimes I’m combing through grains picking out what doesn’t belong, sometimes I’m on a walk…but I try to do this at least twice per day. Start by glancing around and giving thanks for the abundance in your life. I’m grateful for this nourishing fruit and water, so incredibly grateful for these trees and the fresh air and that beautiful butterfly over there!

There are bajillions of things you can look around at and be thankful for at any moment. I like to spend a moment to really let everything sink in and feel how blessed I am to enjoy everything I see. But if you want to take it a step further, you can close your eyes and just think of things, people or situations you’re grateful for. In your head, or aloud, say “THANK YOU” as these images pass through your mind. I start slow, giving it a moment to grasp the concept, and realize my brain is aware of the pattern and trying to load up what’s next on deck. After a while, you don’t even need to think about it. You can verbally say “THANK YOU” as quickly as you can, and images or feelings of anything and everything you are TRULY thankful for will start to emerge. Old friends, meaningful conversations, beautiful landscapes, and just any blessings in general.

I found, while doing this practice, you really can’t outpace your mind with your words. There will always be something new to be greatful for that you weren’t even trying to think of. For me, this quickly leads to something that needs my attention. Maybe an old friend I need to reconnect with, or some nudge from the universe about how to change my perception of something.

If you’re ever feeling overwhelmed, “stuck” in whatever way, or just have a standard case of “the sads”, just try this gratitude practice for a few minutes. It really is a vibe raiser, helps you stay grounded, and focuses your attention on things that truly matter in your life. If ever anything you perceive to be negative comes up, don’t dismiss it! There will always be some positive takeaway, and could be a sign that this is the PERFECT time to release tension, resentment or other ill feelings toward whatever it is that popped up. Just try to flow through it and whatever comes, let it come naturally and not forced. More often than not, by the end of the practice, I’m on cloud 9 thinking about some amazing memory, harnessing the experience and feeling it like I’m reliving it all over again, or feeling the stress relief of just letting go and moving on.

I’d like to mention just a couple of ultra grateful moments I’ve had this past week because my mind just won’t let them go (and I hope it never does). On Monday, I had the pleasure of meeting up with a beloved Discord member that I’ve communicated with for what feels like a lifetime, but never met in person before! Good ol @Lebenezer and his incredible family were passing through Austin and were kind enough to meet me for a walk along a trial across the street from me! Absolute highlight of my week. We found soooo many mushrooms (that we mostly couldn’t ID but that’s ok), lizards, frogs so small you could fit 10 of them on your fingernail, and all kinds of furry wildlife. We came across a log on our walk back that had mushrooms actively sporulating! I mean, I assume all mature mushrooms are actively sporeulating a bit, but this was a sight to behold…absolutely breathtaking. No phone=no pics…it is a downside. But forever locked into my memory. Little clouds of spores visibly dropping, floating and doing their thang just covering the forest floor! So freaking cool to see. We had really nice conversation, learned how similar we were and just had an incredible time. I appreciate the fam for making the trek up to hang for a minute!

Another highlight was having some much needed rain. We’ve been in quite the drought here in Austin and it’s been nice seeing the flaura and fauna watered a bit. And it makes for some excellent foraging opportunities! I took my hand pan outside during a downpour and was able to hear the music of the rain which was absolutely incredible. Life is good. Oh, and also the clouds. Biiiig big cloud guy over here. I get lost in them thangs.

UPDATES:

I plan on doing a re-work of the mycosino roll tables to choose from for the dice rolls next week. I realized I had shipping priced into the prizes when I initially made the lists, and have had to increase shipping a couple of times since, not even thinking about re-arranging what was up for grabs. My shipping costs have increased 4…count em, FOUR times just this year alone! The types of goods available will remain the same, but some quantities will change (for the better) coming next week.

If anyone would like to see this come to life, know that a 3/4″ square sticker with your icon or profile pic can easily change these bars, bells and fruits into a more satisfying custom community slot machine. Plus I do love having everyone’s personal stickers 🙂

Shortage of prints and swabs in ze shop…this will be updated soon.

I’ve heard back from a few peeps recently about agar plates arriving in not so good condition and I’m sorry that’s happening! I’m at a loss on what to even investigate or fix. Each batch of agar I make, I shrink wrap and vac seal the pretty ones to send out, and keep the imperfect ones for personal use. I have some sealed up and some just sitting in front of my flow hood from the last 2 batches I made and they’re all looking great, but something is happening on the way from me to you. Since they’re vac sealed, I don’t think any nasties are getting in there in transit, but I’m open to any and all theories you can slide my way to figure this out. Maybe higher temps along the way are waking up some undesirables? Regardless, I’d be happy to send fresh plates to anyone who is affected.

Shipping still showing crazy delays! It’s like Christmas in June for some reason. Packages may be stalled more than usual, but they’ll still get to ya. If you need an update or confirmation your order has shipped, hit the email or DMs!

Thanks to a brilliant success story by our very own @ed, we’re now experimenting with some substrate for the poo lovers! Many exotic species, most notably Pan Cyans, love the nutrient rich substrates that include that stanky poo. He did some digging (pun slightly intended) and experimenting on his own and found THIS IS THE WAY! This will eventually show up in the shop after I’ve had a chance to test it thoroughly, but for the time being, feel free to add a note (at checkout with your order) on the regular CVG offered in the shop and I’ll send the nutrient dense substrate! Keep in mind this is for non-cubensis types, such as Pan Cyan, Ps. Subtropicalis and the like. Not saying don’t experiment with others, but cubes specifically typically enjoy a lower nute blend than this.

And speaking of experimental substrates, our very own @UnderdogArtisan has been playing around with perlite added to the sub for some extra aeration and ventilation for the substratation gyrations! I happened to have a massive supply on hand from an accidental order a while back, so same applies…will likely have as an official item in the shop when through testing, but for now, available by request on the normal CVG items.

Quick note about giveaways on Discord: I love to accommodate anyone and everyone with these giveaways, but due to shipping cost and unreliability of getting through customs, these are currently for US addresses only. A 1lb box runs around $30 for shipping alone…5lb can be around $100, and some of these gives are heavier than that, running $200+ overseas, with high potential of getting stuck in customs and never actually arriving. If an international myconaut wins one of these, I’d be happy to send some prints or swabs your way…pretty much anything that can fit in a standard envelope and not have to pass through customs screening. Oak Ridge is a unique landrace from Tennessee just 5 miles from the Y12 National Nuclear laboratory in Oak Ridge. At first, this may sound intimidating, but I promise you won’t turn into the Hills Have Eyes people. Perhaps the close proximity to the lab may have given it special powers, because it is one of the most resilient, contamination resistant and hardy varieties I’ve had the pleasure of working with. Start to finish, pretty amazing study!
