This will *likely* be the last week of full on straight up hot sauce updates to the Discord server. We’ll be back to the regularly scheduled “Pet your mom, call your dog, love everyone” programming going forward, we just have a handful of really cool updates to tell you about and we’re super excited!!

And by “we”, I mostly mean our creativity leader and ultramod extraordinaire, @UnderdogArtisan! She’s been busy at work adding some helpful and fun new channels to the mix as well as customizing the Mr. MEE6 bot so these spaces stay tidy and organized. I’m not a huge fan of interacting with bots myself, but the organizational tools this app opens up is crucial for our steadily growing community. BIG HUGE MASSIVE ROCKIN THANKS TO UNDERDOG!!

FIRST of most, the new channel #community-info, located near the top of the channel list, explains a lot of the recent changes and how they work. We’ve added different skill badges that highlight your achievements and involvement in certain channels, and some pretty cool “roles” you can earn to show off your expertise in the community. Underdog designed some pretty rad mushroom icons to go along with all of these designations as well! Everything from their colors and shapes to the gem they’re based on is intentional and crafted with love <3

As the community grows, this extra flair in will allow some of the newer people to find who they can go to for help, and gives some bragging rights in the friendly competition/proud parent show off channels. All achievements and roles also award “SPORES”, which is the currency for the server! You can play a few basic games in the #games channel to accumulate more spores or risk losing them by gambling there too! It was all fun and games….until this week.

Today, we’re rolling out some actual real-world prizes you can redeem with your spore stack! Since we’ve only had the games area running for a couple weeks, we’re still figuring out how quickly spores are earned and how popular this will be. It’s always a work in progress and the amounts and/or prizes you can win may change, but for now, we have a handful of genetics and supplies to cash in on! For instance, a spore syringe or pack of swabs will take 5,000 of your spores and scatter them along the forest floor (as they should), and an All-In-One bag will set you back 20,000 spores! Just use the command /shop to see a list of available items, and /buy to purchase something!

We’ve also added a #tickets channel this week (the last channel under the “Mycology Discussion” tab) to keep track of item redemptions and their status. This is mainly an organizational tool for me, to hold me accountable and allow you to see when your winnings ship. When you redeem your spores for an item, you’re able to give it to a fellow community member, or “use” it with the command /use. Once an item is “used”, just go to the #ticket channel and click the “Open Ticket” button. This will notify me and create a communication area where we can discuss any specifics of that ticket, like shipping information or any choices you have to make.

The #tickets channel will also be used for any giveaways won on the server, using the same process. Just click “open a ticket” when you win to discuss any details of the giveaway. It will show a “claimed” status until I ship your goods, so we both know if it’s on the way or still needs attention. I thiiiink I’m all caught up on all giveaway wins and re-ships, but if anyone is waiting on goods or tracking, hit the ticket and I’ll make it a priority! This is not to take human interaction and conversation out of the mix, but more to keep me in check with a to-do list.

UPDATES:

Shipping has been a bit delayed lately! I reminisce of a time when I used to confidently say, “Your order shipped, and should scan into the system with an ETA between 10:30-11pm this evening”. Things were consistent. Things were smooth. But in this post-Harambe, post-CERN world, everyone seems to have lost their marbles. They try. But some orders seem to be lingering around Austin for a day or two for no apparent reason. In my observation, it seems to be the worst on Saturdays. My packages shipped bright and early this past Saturday to test this theory, and most still didn’t get moving until Monday. Except the one I shipped a couple days earlier than requested. I try to plan for delays and that one zips off in record time. I swear they’re messing with me. As always, feel free to reach out for confirmation your order did indeed ship and is on the way!

Aside from USPS delays, sometimes I have my own bottlenecks and hiccups. About 90% of my orders lately have been shipping within 48 hrs, but if yours is delayed further for any reason, I’ll reach out to inform you of a ship date via text to the phone number provided. If you’d prefer no communication, do not enter a phone number, or say “LEAVE ME THE HECK ALONE” in the order notes. I still love ya.

Blue Sunburst Ochraceocentrata is the newest addition to the shop this week! Ochras have been the talk of the town lately and they’ve always fascinated me with how unique they are compared to cubensis. These will *mostly* mature into your typical Ochras (in the wild of course), but some mature with a stunning blue hue on the cap that I think is crazy cool lookin’! Also, you’re crazy cool lookin’. Quick note about giveaways on Discord: I love to accommodate anyone and everyone with these giveaways, but due to shipping cost and unreliability of getting through customs, these are currently for US addresses only. A 1lb box runs around $30 for shipping alone…5lb can be around $100, and some of these gives are heavier than that, running $200+ overseas, with high potential of getting stuck in customs and never actually arriving. If an international myconaut wins one of these, I’d be happy to send some prints or swabs your way…pretty much anything that can fit in a standard envelope and not have to pass through customs screening. If you order agar plates, temp changes can sometimes cause condensation to form on the lids. Condensation is no problem, and will not affect the performance of the plate, but it’s still nice to have a clear view of what’s going on in there! I know for me, condensation is kind of annoying. If it’s still cold in your area, consider bringing your order into the garage or similar area to gradually warm up before entering your loving home to help reduce the drippity droplets!

For the past couple months, I’ve been posting a *loose* schedule of one or two processes I plan on running for that day, but it seems that in wizardland, schedules are made to be broken.
