Heya Whippoorwills!

I’ve always received a pretty consistent stream of love from the community here, on and off Discord, but the past few weeks have been extra incredible on so many levels. You all really do make this an amazing community, and the love is felt far and wide! I know I sound like a broken record here, but I am extremely blessed to be a conduit for all of this, being able to spread genetics, crafts and overall love goodness pretty much every single day. Community members are always sending me sweet genetics to work with and disperse. I get the most amazing care packages from friends around here containing some of my favorite possessions and swag to wear, carrying on the energy of my fellow myconauts, and often receive shirts, handmade crafts and trinkets to send out to the squad. You all are more amazing than you know and really put a smile on everyone you connect with.

Around the time all of this took off, I had this memory of buying college books where the company (Chegg I think?) said they would plant a tree for every book sold. I loved that idea, and in a bit of a daydream, wanted to figure out a way to do something similar, but with mushrooms. Back in the Reddit days, I had a large paper map that I would push a pin into wherever I sent spores. That quickly got out of hand and I wasn’t able to keep up with it, but it was so cool seeing that vision come to life! I thought about how many books I would buy if Chegg promised to grow mushrooms instead of trees, and here I am, seeing all of these areas in different parts of the country (and the world!) filled with little spore babes. Not only do I not have to pay for this to happen, but it became literally my dream job, and even better than I ever imagined. You all make this such a special place to learn, share and commune, and I thank you SO so much for helping me live what once seemed like a fantasy!

Together, we truly are making a difference and changing the world with this high vibration. Collectively, our love can overcome ANYTHING! It’s not always easy, we may not all always be vibing high, but when someone is down, we pick them up. We send love and encouragement, and do our best to make every single interaction wholesome and good so that person is uplifted and funk busted! And that energy is transferred, not just sent and lost! We are building up quite the positive energy balloon with all of these swirls of love and kindness circulating around the community.

I believe J.R.R. Tolkien said “Some believe it is only great power that can hold evil in check, but that is not what I have found. It is the small everyday deeds of ordinary folk that keep the darkness at bay. Small acts of kindness and love“. And that is exactly what we are doing. No matter what is going on in your personal bubble or out in the wild, keep doing good and keep spreading love. The smallest, most seemingly insignificant actions toward your best friend or a complete stranger, can and will, have powerful reverberations that make the entire world a better place. If you’re authentic and lead from your heart with pure intentions in all that you do, you’ve done all you can do. I see this so often within the community, and I think you all are doing an amazing job going through life with your hearts of gold. “Blessed” is an understatement, and my vision of my “dream job” pales in comparison to how all of this turned out. Thank you for being part of the journey, you beautiful souls! We’re all just walking each other home <3

Please welcome our newest wizard, GANDALF to the shop! Gandalf is a cross of TAT (True Albino Teacher) and Melmak and is an absolute beauty! These genetics carry resiliency and hardiness more than most PE varieties, making this one a great study for all experience levels. Like most true albino varieties, this one is only available in spore swabs.

We’ve revived “The Guestbook” channel on Discord! I made this channel maybe 6 months ago, as a space where you can write a little do-dad about how you got into the hobby, any healing and benefits you’ve experienced because of it, shout-outs to who got you into the hobby, etc. Just a place for praise of mycology of all kinds. I had grand plans to add my own entry when I first made the channel, but life started lifin’ and I didn’t get around to it for a while. Seeing a blank guestbook week after week as a reminder that I didn’t contribute was disheartening. I removed it, and not soon after, had a few people asking where it was so they could write something. My bad! This time it’s here to stay, blank or nah. No rush if you wish to add to the guestbook…take your time.

What is that you say? The dice rolls aren’t complicated enough? Say less! These dice rolls make sense to me and the folks that have been around for a while, but if you’re newer here or just curious how they work and I’m not explaining it well enough, feel free to reach out and I’ll try to simplify it for ya. There are currently two options that are vague…#8 on both the active $20 roll and gourmet $20 roll, mention “surprise goodies”. What the hell is even that? We just don’t know. But going forward, we’ll have a separate roll if you choose/roll one of these options. The “surprise goodies” will be determined by this extra roll. For example, if you roll a “1” on the separate roll for this option, you’ll likely have an “ahh, nice” reaction to the surprise goodies. If you roll an “8”, that reaction may be more of a “WHOOOOA DUDE HOLY MOSES!!!” with varying levels of goodies in between. Roll on my friends.

Quick note about giveaways on Discord: I love to accommodate anyone and everyone with these giveaways, but due to shipping cost and unreliability of getting through customs, these are currently for US addresses only. A 1lb box runs around $30 for shipping alone…5lb can be around $100, and some of these gives are heavier than that, running $200+ overseas, with high potential of getting stuck in customs and never actually arriving. If an international myconaut wins one of these, I’d be happy to send some prints or swabs your way…pretty much anything that can fit in a standard envelope and not have to pass through customs screening. Thanks for understanding!

If you order agar plates, quick changes in temps can sometimes cause condensation to form on the lids. Condensation is no problem, and will not affect the performance of the plate, but it’s still nice to have a clear view of what’s going on in there! I know for me, condensation is kind of annoying. If it’s still cold in your area, consider bringing your order into the garage or similar area to gradually warm up before entering your loving home to help reduce the drippity droplets!
