Description
Psilocybe ovoideocystidiata was first documented by Richard Gaines in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania in June, 2003. This species is native to the Eastern United States that stretches from Kentucky to Rhode Island, but can be found as far south as Mississippi and in the Pacific Northwest as well. It is chestnut to yellowish brown to pearly cream in color and will gain a bluish-green feature when matured. They can be found in mid-April top late-June after periods of rain. The distinguishing characteristic of this species is actually its spores! They are dark purplish-brown like most Psilocybe species, but it has a rhomboid shape instead of an ellipsoid one! They vary in size from 7-12 x 5.5-8.5µm!
