Another variety found by ethnomycologist John Allen in his venture through Thailand. The mother was picked in the town of Hua Thanon on the island of Koh Samui. These mushrooms grow in rice paddies where water buffalo work the field before they are flooded. When the season comes to flood the fields, the buffalo are moved to mountainous regions and the locals harvest.Â
