Description

Gymnopilus junonius, formerly known as Gymnopilus spectabilis, has the common names of Spectacular Rustgill, Waraitake, or Big Laughing Gym, is a hallucinogenic mushroom. This mushroom has gotten its names from the color of the fruiting body, bright yellow-orange to reddish brown, almost rust color (similar to its spores!), and when consumed, can cause giggling fits. The name Waraitake is translated to Laughing Mushroom. It is found in clusters growing on hardwoods and conifers in moist lowland wooded ares. Spores are rust colored and 8–11 x 4–6.5 µm in size
